Very true!
So far today, I've shimmed the cooler bypass, shimmed(2 washers) the wastegate, Replaced the front swaybar with ST,
Replaced the oil cooler lines and oil filter, and adjusted the dashpot. Not much more to do. If I get the rear swaybar done, I'll call it a good day.
LOL.
Aint done yet, but I'm working on it today.
One additional task: Install 3" catalytic converter.
My girlfriend was giving me all kinds of hell for my '88 long term project, because it takes up the garage.
Then I buy a 2nd 'project', and she's like WTH?- Finish your other car first...
Pretty much. Still have to shim the bypass spring and replace the cooler hoses, as well as get the bumpers painted, but at that point, i'll call it as done as it will ever get. There will always be repairs and refresh tasks on a car this old, but you have to write an ending to the story at some...
Ill have to look GC, but im not sure. I sold my old upper arms locally, and probably gave the guy the new bushings as well.
Ill be going out to Seattle in August. If you can meet up, ill bring you that console cover, no charge.
Today I was able to do a quick couple of jobs, before it got too hot outside.
Pulled the tail lights, and replaced the seals. I was getting a lot of water inside the hatch area, but I'm not sure if its coming from the lights, the lower hatch glass trim, or what.
But I do know that water in the...
Done.
The only real problem I had, was that the supplied base retainer(against the inside of the quarter panel) was too large to use in the stock hole.
So I cut up the oem unit to use on the inside. I also reused the lower bracket, after welding in 90 degree tabs to fit the new antenna's...
Swapped out the power antenna today.
Took a little bit of fiddling with the upper spacer, and modifying the lower bracket, but it's all solid now.
Old vs. new:
Bracket welded to work:
Harness cut from the old antenna, and depinned/ rewired:
Done. And with a black mast, too.
Well...lol.
THIS subject generated a lot of interest.
I ordered a Metra 44-PW22B antenna. It has a black mast, and extends to 31". Some go to 39", but that seemed like it'd look silly, plus be more
susceptible to damage. I will post a writeup of the swap. Once I get it.
Well thanks, but of course I have it a lot easier than most of the builds in the gallery.
No big goals, and starting with a nearly-done car.
Last items to do:
adjust dashpot
troubleshoot abs light
Replace driver's window switch(works but the button is cracked)
tail light seals
Repair dome...
Today was filled with multiple tasks:
Replace the broken cooling fan
Charge the ac
Replace the windshield squirters with new Camry units
Replace the front speakers
And also, a bit of paint work...
Not perfect, but at least better.
The final look of the engine, now that I have a good...
So last week, I drove the car to a little meet at Hooters.
First time I've gone to a Supra meet IN an actual Supra, in a long time.
Third from the left:
Unfortunately, A fellow owner noticed(and I didn't) that my fan had locked up behind the upper part of the fan shroud, breaking two of the...
My antenna appears to be shot- both the mast and the motor are dead.
Was looking at Metra and Hirschman antennas, but was wondering what other people have used in place of the oem antenna.
Are there any concerns to be aware of, regarding the retracted height, on the 89+ wing?
Or am I just...
You mean the trim adhesive? Autozone sells it in the exact width necessary-1/2".
Just cleaned up the outside of the car today.
Hoping to register it tomorrow.
Things knocked off the to-do list:
Repair passenger seat recline(quarter stuck in mechanism)
Removed leaves from blower motor
Fixed low coolant light(sensor was stuck)
3 out of 4 aint bad...
Installed wiper arms, connected reverse light, and installed the heater hose.
Also filled and bled the brake system. Then took the car for its very first drive. Just to the top of my street and back.
She did just fine, no issues. At first, the idle was unstable and it...
