Cost me 20K AUD to build it using a brand new Bridgeport Clone as the base then adding the CNC Controls and hardware :)!
(Couldn't justify 75K for a 3 Ton VMC for home use)

We got the sporty version here that had 160hp and back in the day they were a bit of a rocket so with 200 and torque it's going to be a blast!

JDub: Yep the boys used a Diamond Cutter on the Head and Block and the Head came out Mirror Finish but I wasn't happy with the block as received!
(They said it was ra40)
It only took about 40 minutes with the Lapping plate to give me the finish I want!
Lapped Block
The "Blocks" are meant to be used with an optical comparator and that's the part that costs big $$$ and very few shops have one as it's more a Tool Room tool.
Lapping tables are few and far between these days and you need to be careful if it's an old one as they do wear.

SoD: Not being a smartarse or anything but the system you're thinking of will be a disaster to tune and I don't think you'll save such a missmatch with an adjustable valve.
Old lady following you panics doesn't know what to do mashes the gas pedal instead of the brake and it's all over.....
