It wouldn't get into the filter the screen "should" stop the big chunks.
If it has ingested all of the small shrapnel the pump is toast at a minimum.
Yes I'd think you would have noticed something was wrong if it had popped out but I'm at a loss to explain/understand that sort of damage!
I'm not picking shit or blamming you but "if" I had to guess at it and couldn't find a trace I'd say it didn't make it into the motor.
It's stainless and very flexible so I can't see it disintergrating totally.

Have a look at the settings on the camera and see if there's a little blue or green flower shaped button/icon?
If there is select that then move the camera a little till it's in focus.
If not move the camera back so Autofocus works then post em I'll enlarge em here so I can see the detail.
My "guess" will be you'll have to crank the MBC right back to keep under fuel cut as the charge is so much more dense at the lower temps!
