Eric: Grab a piece of vacc hose about 10" long pull #1 plug put the hose in the plug hole then turn the crank and watch the hose when it stops coming up is the real TDC, once there have a look at the timing mark to confirm if it's correct.
"Starting off" sort of denotes a new motor.....
Then I went on to ask "I hope you're not using the Synthetic for the initial break in"

I'm a car enthusiast, I like all cars if they are well built/modded and have trouble understanding this "Supra's are the best fuck the rest" attitude it's a little childish..
You need to stop it rotating ;)!
A screwdriver in the ring gear teeth works and if the motor is out of the car I use a short chain from the flywheel to the engine stand leg.
Most multivis oils are chock full of friction modifiers and additives, these can prevent the rings from bedding in.
Synthetic is one step worse in new motors as it's very slippery!
Pull the fan belt and see if there is any play/roughness in the Water pump bearings.
No use guessing at 7M cooling issues it gets expensive very quickly!
