The OP's head is an extreme case and as I said earlier it's had a filter block and go bypass and circulate garbage through the motor at some point in it's life.

Yep sucks being on the other side of the world.
Back when I had my Cams done there weren't many options so I had them Hard Face welded (same stuff they use on bulldozer teeth) then ground to my specs.
The pair cost me $1300 AUD so not cheap.....
Kai: You could have the Cams welded and ground back to spec it shouldn't be all that expensive but now there are aftermarket new cams available I don't know why you'd bother.
Kai: You could but it would cost a fortune as the head has to be stripped of all ferrous parts welded straightened line bored/honed reheat treated then all new guides and seats fitted then surfaced.
It's a huge job and a new bare casting is cheaper.
