Depends on the miata. Turbo? V8 conversion? race parts? etc. stock miata = gay. Modified = not gay. I built a buddy a turbo miata, got called a fag a few times while test driving it, utnil i did big smokey burn outs and just shot off the line. DAMN that car was fun.

For my 1jz, i've spent somewhere around 2500 on misc parts and supplies ontop of the cost of the motorset. 2jzs are even more involved. IMO don't do it unless you can set aside at least 5-6k
