My 89 never suffered from the wobble/flex like so many other Supras I've ridden in. I was actually shocked one day when riding in a friend's Supra. When we went over a bump I could feel the whole dang car twist.
I still remember Larry's first impression of the Do-Luck bar - saying it was an...
This is where the calculators - see the links in the ref/techtips section - come in handy.
With a 17" rim and 275s - you need to find tires with a 35 sidewall (275/35/17) to come close to the factory sizing - you will be traveling at 59.3mph when your speedo reads 60. - found using the tire...
OK... wheel height does not matter - until you get above 20". You could run a 20" rim without problems as long as it isn't TOOO wide. The Stock MkIV rims are 9.5" wide in the back and they fit just fine.
Now back to those 20" rims. If you run a 255/25/20 tire on those rims you will...
I got my 89T for $9500 (back in 96 with just 50,000 miles on it). I refuse to calculate how much I've spent on it since that day - heck just rubber alone is four to five thousand dollars - that's ~$0.03 per mile.
Randy - Why did you go with the 40 series tire? This increased your overall diameter by nearly an inch. That is possibly why you are rubbing the liner - not to mention how far off your speedo must be. A 35 series tire would have been just .1" off - as would a 255/35/18.
If you maintain...
Should be just fine. Fronts will sit out 5mm from the rims I'll be running soon and the rears will sit out 7mm. Kevin M has the same rims and is running them just fine.
yep. I've got them on my 89 hood already - same ones that come in the Solara. They are a nice drop-in upgrade (those with the older hoods have to do some hacking from what I've heard). The nozzle does a 90 degree bend but it still fits and actually looks cleaner as the hoses are snug up...
If I were to ever get a CF hood I would want the underside to be finished as well. I would paint the top - for that stealthy look - but would want the CF to shine whenever I popped the hood. Most shops don't think about this.
Also - be sure to take the windshield sprayer cutout template...
Are your current springs broken? If not... save your money. Get a new set of springs for about $200 - we won't even talk about the labor to install stock springs with stock springs (even if you do the work yourself).
Do it once. Do it right!
OH MY DEAR LORD! I can't believe some of the stuff I read on here sometimes.
You want to keep the same overall diameter for your wheel/tire combo when upgrading. That way your speedo doesn't get off too much.
Our stock combination (225/50/16) has a diameter of 24.9" That means that you...
I've got a garage (out by PDX). Wife just requires that her car is able to get back into the garage before we go to bed. Rental fee is a bottle of good tequila (100% agave ANEJO).
I don't have a lot of tools - just a lot of space. I'd be tinkering on my own 89 (best year BTW) but would be...
If you skip the HID bulbs you can get this done for well under $1000. I got the lenses with bulbs - Nick where did you find shit bulbs for $10? I can't even find any bulbs that fit other than the Hella ones that came already installed - and I wouldn't call Hella bulbs shit by any means. I've...
It isn't that bad. Just take some precautions and you'll be fine. You wouldn't take your phone into the pool with you and expect it to survive would you?
You wouldn't park your car on top of a building that was being demolished and expect it to just drive off after the thing collapsed would...
Back when my 89T was my daily driver I used to take the sunshade off during the winter months just in case - hey I wasn't showing the car off in the middle of December anyway right? Not only did this protect against accidents like this but it also prevented the sun from drying it out as quickly...
