I actually had this happen. I was lucky enough to have someone catch me on the offramp (not a cop) and let me know that my brake lights were not working.
What I want to know is who was the brilliant mastermind that designed the failure circuitry for this box.
Taillight Failure Sensor
1. If a taillight goes out put up an indicator on the dash
2. If the sensor goes out do not allow the brake lights to function AND put NO indicator on the...
This is actually not true. Now that the "almighty" is an OLD car we are now seeing more and more MkIVs falling into the same states of shittiness that we've seen for years from the MkIIIs. Of course then there are those MkIVs that don't live long enough to fall into disrepair because they were...
I can agree with many parts of your comments - but have to throw in a tidbit.
The "noobs" of today are radically different than the "noobs" of yesterday.
We were all noob ++ at one point. How we handled ourselves in the beginning is the difference.
I purchased my 89T in the spring of...
Crisp - Welcome to SM. I've seen your posts over on SolaraGuy.
According to the offset calculator:
Stock rim (sawblade) 7.5" wide w/ 37 offset
Your rims 8" wide w/ 40 offset
You will lose 9mm of inner clearance but the outside edge will sit 3mm further out.
compare that to the MkIV...
swaq - I am going with the plan to bring the Supra down this year. It was very hard to leave it home for the first time ever last year.
My current plan is to pick up some rubbers in the next two months. I may give the DEQ another try but will likely just pick up a trip permit and throw...
The water problem is due to the window seal - wow, two threads on this in a single day.
The squeaky/rattling hatch can be fixed by replacing your hatch bumpers -

Well sort of. The site is live but I haven't yet linked the main page into the 2007 pages yet.
Hop on over to http://Vegas.Supras.Org/v07
The current tentative schedule is online and the RSVP page is ready. Activity specific information and official hotel information is still being...
The problem is the 95% likely due to the seal around the window. I too have this same problem and have sealed up everything but that. Chris J also had this problem and had his window resealed - no more water.
Have your rear window resealed and you'll fix the problem.
Hey Poodles... What are you basing your theories on HIDs on?
The cutoffs are created by a couple of different things in the H4. First is the lens. Second - and possibly more importantly is the shielding inside the H4 bulb.
You could just buy H4 bulbs but what would you do with them? You need a housing to put them into. The factory lights are sealed units.
And putting HID in a lens that is not designed for HID is BAD! http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html
Step 1: Raise Headlights and turn them to the off but still up position
Step 2: Remove plastic surround (4 screws)
Step 3: Remove metal trim ring (4 screws)
Step 4: Disconnect plug from back of stock headlight
Step 5: Insert new H4 bulb in new H4 lens - do not touch the actual bulb - hold it...
I've also seen a LOT of cars with those ebay lenses and they don't put out nearly the light that you'll get out of the Hellas with a quality bulb.
Also, just spend some time reading www.DanielSternLighting.com and you'll learn so much about your lighting.
Hella H4 lenses - http://www.suprasport.com/Hella-H4_p_84-36.html
and a good quality H4 bulb
Then reqire your headlights following this page - http://danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html
You will be VERY happy with your lighting.
Do not fiberglass or bondo. They won't flex right and will fall out after a short time.
The FiberFlex filler will work GREAT though. I've had mine all fixed up since 2002 and no problems.
