Awesome, glad it helped. Am finishing a replacement harness for mine and ended up having to do the starter-relay mod thing. So, I added the Bosch relay near the ECU connections, using the starter signal wire (at the glove box vs. engine bay). So am very familiar with that circuit right now...
I thought the A340 is the tranny that comes with the 2JZ-GTE... which I thought has a digital sender (to the ECU). If you were using an auto from an MKIII, the cable would be there instead, attached to the speedo, with a speed signal output to the ECU (cruise, etc).
When I first got my front...
Yeah.... The MKIII mechanical/stock speedo becomes useless. I bought (but hadn't used) an Apexi RSM & a Driftmotion digital sending unit (this has the gear and replaces the MKIII cable, at the R154 tranny... 3-wires). You can also use the digital output from the 2JZ auto tranny's stock speed...
If you're using the 2JZ ECU, you can find the E1 and Te1 signals and temporarily connect ("T" ) them. Basically it's the Te1 wire and ground.... puts the ECU in diag mode and blinks the signals at the CEL (if you have your CEL signal hooked up). Dunno if you've tried that already.
I've been using 2JZ N/A blocks with the 2JZ-TT pistons. Dunno how that works "compression-wise" in a 1J, 'cept that you would have to use 1J rods for sure (stroke length or whatnot).
Have you replaced that relay? Could be that it was sticking/faulty. We permanently jumpered the B+ and FP at the diag box and went with the 12-volt mod. Everything else, wiring-wise, is fine (or as it should be).
A few years ago, someone said that they were able to use the stock cruise-control unit, by fixing the cable-end (which goes to the throttle body) with a piece/end of cable from a bicycle brake cable repair kit.
Anyone know which one to order/use, or have another fix?
TIA,
E
Not sure which engine/ECU combo you're asking about, but I transplanted my 7M pressure sender to the oil filter relocation kit to use the stock gauge, for my 2J. No wiring or switch in place for the stock 2JZ dummy light or the other signal, and ECU/engine worked fine. On my car tho, the oil...
Toyota - They are cheap and pre-bent (tho maybe folded to ship). Don't buy used ones. Why remove lines twice and install used/crusty ones, when they are already cheap for new.
After many years of K&N, I now have an Amsoil dry filter... Went off of the filter comparisons available on the interwebs. Lots of it showing K&N performance being much lower than you'd think.
I think I had to get the different (US) outlet pipe and hose for some reason... But, after a couple of other challenges, went straight to a single. I think I have a few of those different fittings... What's your timeline? You can have mine (if I find 'em), but I may not be able to send for a...
I still have mine from a few years back.... Glad to see you're still making fun stuff for us to play with.
I'd be interested in an insert for the rears, where I'd then be able to use LEDs for brake/tail lights... Maybe a conversion kit that has the dual-bulb feature like an 1157 (parking...
Yeah... pick what you want and install it yourself. Will take about an hour (if you've never done it before). Also, do your homework on the unit's signals/wiring. Some of them do not have a separate antenna signal and you antenna will stay up as long as the unit is powered on (regardless of...
Just did this after changing the starter... def something to be done 1st. I even re-ran the wire to the starter, all the way from the B1 connector. Issue seems to be in the dash wiring to the starter relay. Starter turns when its supposed to now.
Yes, but I was replacing rod/main bearings too. I'm not sure if you can install the thrust washers without lifting the crank, but I haven't tried that before.
