If you went Lsx, I would build up a LQ9 block to a 408 before I would to the LS7. LS7 has to thin of walls for being a small block. Ive seen the 408 short blocks forged go for $4k. Then just find a camaro that blew a rod and strip it for the rest and you'll have a killer FI/NO2 motor.
It wont fit on the stock manifold or downpipe or oil lines and so fourth. And do supporting fuel upgrades before this tubo is ever implimented on the motor.
First thing I was thinking it might have been one of those overlooked details like 36 in lbs and misread as ft. lbs.
Seriously though, 36ft.lbs. isnt a ton of pressure and perhaps all that happened was it exerted pressure on an existing crack.
Did you have the block Magnafluxed when it...
I have the same problem. my machinist bacically insulted my HKS headgasket (not bead style). He decided to use a different style gasket with "SS combustion chamber seals". Anyone heard anything of this style HG?
You would think with all the time, energy and money it would take to do this all that you would choose something better than the lt1. Atleast go Ls series with it.
I would agree with poodles that to put something carbed based in, it would just take away from both the personality of the car...
Well If you guys are serious and decide to move out here let me know and ill have the population signs updated with carving a few more tallys in the sign!
Every thing I have learned from living in Wyoming tells me you would get busted if you were laying low. Not because of the lack of LEOs or their laid back ways. You would just get so bored you would eventually do somehting so dumb it would warrant a closer look by cops. :naughty::evil2: Or you...
Thanks for the clarification doctor, I was hoping youd chime in and verify what needed to be done. What is the largest injector you would suggest go with a maft pro? 680s maybe? or just 550's?
EDIT: apparantely my math is off and it should be -43%...
If I remeber right you can. You would just take the difference between the stock 440s and 780s. 77.27% bigger, So you would decrease your fuel tables by that much. Someone correct me if im wrong as this is all off memory of what i've read.
There are certain parts or options that can make a car worse to DD on their own and not from a correlation of HP. Like turbos and clutches being the two big ones. Using the wife/gf standard for DD, I know that my girl cant drive a geo with a 200k mile clutch, let alone a new 6 puck. But shes...
I had the motor all balanced minus the flywheel&clutch, and the Dampener. If those three are all zero balanced It shouldnt effect the balance of the motor correct?
How close are clutches and dampeners usually balanced new oem or aftermarket?
You should definately do so. I've been wondering how gnarly the inside of the transmission is, I think pictures would help some (me) more than tearing into it blindly. If it were me, I would be hearing a gypsy speaking into a crystal ball and tell me I would be speaking profanities the whole time.
Brank new crank. Engine was machined and balanced. With the motor balanced without the clutch and the dampener, how much can the clutch and dampener be off of a zero balance? Could they be off balanced enough to do harm to the motor, or would it be beneficial to get either dynamically balanced...
I will be getting an ATI piece soon. My reasoning is that it would be easier to replace the dampener than the clutch. At the same time I wouldnt want to risk a new motor on the chance that the same event would occur that caused the motor to fail in the first place.
If I went the way of a...
My motor had a catastrophic failture from my balancer coming loose and unbalancing the motor, an Im in need of a new one. When I was taking the motor apart it was also decided that a new clutch was needed also.
Can I spend my money on a strong new clutch and go cheap with a temporary used...
These sort of discussions usually dont happen unless someone insults one religion, mother, or choice of motor oil..
Why not build up your turbo motor and DD the N/A in the time being. See if you dont get bitten by the turbo bug, or even if you dont get the horsepower itch scratched by the...
I know Ive spent enough money on my AC to unsucessfully fix it before I pulled the motor. For that reason is why its permanently placed on the garage floor and not going back in the car.
