The MKIV N/A cars used a totally different shifter setup in their W58's, it was an external setup because the shifter hole was in a different spot to fit the V160. I never managed to confirm whether the IS300 one would fit the MK3 or not, but it will be good to have someone try it.

I agree with Bishop, check the TSRM first, run the diagnostics. Check all that first, if it all checks out, I'd check to make sure all the vac lines are correct, etc, then you may need to replace the actuator.

Haven't confirmed when the crank changed yet to the month, however, it was in 89. However, all of our turbo engines had oil squirters here, doesn't matter what year. All N/A's didn't.

As far as VIN's go, MA71 was used in North America, Europe and other places do not use the same VIN format we do, and Toyota did things differently around the world.
