    Convoy to the PNW Meet!

I think the problem is that he's 90% of the way through a GE - GTE swap. Any word yet on that hotel? I'm seriously considering turning west at Mt. Vernon, driving down through Whidbey Island, taking the ferry to Port Townsend and driving south to Bremerton from there. Longer trip in...

    maft-pro problem

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Hindsight is always 20:20, as they say.

diff whine - can thicker lube reduce noise?

Mine starts to howl at 100km/hr when the oil gets old. (About every 2 years, for me.) When I hear it start, I replace the oil and it goes away in 150km or so of driving.

Unhacking a hackjob: Vacuum lines and PS reservoir

Here's a picture of the power steering reservoir. It'll need proper hoses... it holds Automatic transmission fluid, so any hose that's build for ATF should work. As for the vacuum lines, which diagram are you referring to?

    What Engine are you running?

I suspect that the number of people who own more than one Supra with more than one type of engine are statistically insignificant.

    Quick question concerning wiring order...

No worries, that's what we're here for. :)

Anyone compared good 4" to good 5" or 6" spkrs in the front?

For decent speakers, not the cheap junk, larger size gives you essentially ONE thing. Lower frequency response, and that's it. I'm running JL 5.25" speakers front and back, co-ax with an outboard crossover, and yes, it's possible to mount them properly in the front without upgrading to the new...

Clarification on Vf signal and tuning.

0v can mean two things, unfortunately. It can mean it's in closed loop like you've shown, OR it can mean it's in open loop, like after initial startup while it's waiting for the o2 sensor to heat up. It's a bit of a PITA to deal with, you basically have to make an educated guess based on...

    Quick question concerning wiring order...

Doesn't matter - we run a waste spark system, so both cylinders fire the plugs at the same time anyway. This is why when timing the engine, you can use the wire to #6 instead of taking the coilpack cover off to get at #1.

Twin Disc Spec clutch info and feedback needed

It really does bolt in with very little work. No more work than a regular clutch job where you replace the master and slave at the same time. The difference between the various ratings is whether they are sprung or not... the 800hp variant uses sprung hubs, the 1100 does not. No experience...

    “cash for clunkers” program

You probably have... but there's a LOT of Mk3 Supras out there that are worth a whole lot less than $4500. The question is, 'up to $4500' - so what do you have to do to qualify for the max? Buy a $100,000 supercar? Or does this apply to any new car purchase? lol - and what if the NEW car...

Weak ct26 wastegate spring? It wont boost.

Actually, when I picked up an upgraded CT, it came with a new one. I have *NO* clue how the shop got one... A buddy of mine put a generic one on his DSM, and the mounting wasn't much different than a Supra, which is why I'm sure it can be done.

Weak ct26 wastegate spring? It wont boost.

It's actually not that hard to adapt one... you'll need to do some work on the mounting plate, and cut & die the arm, but it can still be done in a couple hours with average tools.

Weak ct26 wastegate spring? It wont boost.

What BOV is it? The stock one, no. An aftermarket, sure. Chances are your wastegate spring is toast. I don't think Toyota sells them independantly, so you're likely going to have to pull the turbo, buy a new generic one, and do some work to get the new one to mount.

"this thing is..FUCKING son of a bitch"

Hell, I've done that at least a few dozen times by now. My car has a reputation at the office, everyone knows it's fast, but then I'll take someone for a spin, and they always say, "I knew it was fast, but I didn't know you meant FAST!"

Clarification on Vf signal and tuning.

Personally, I've found that the stock ECU wants it to be rich pretty much all the time, unless you're cruising on flat ground or decelerating in gear. I haven't had to mess with the partial throttle tuning to keep it rich at all.

    What Engine are you running?

I think we can guess where this is going to end up. :) This is funny in a way... I've been saying for years that a significant factor in the 'weak' 7M reputation is simply the fact that it outnumbers everything else out there by a lot. So, if there were only 5 times as many 7M failures as JZ...

    Bruno. the forbiden movie

The real reason many are refusing to pay for it is because we all got sucked in on Borat. I still want my money back from that! Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me.

question for people in automotive industry

Well, I don't work in the auto industry, so take my advice with a grain of salt. However, I do know several people who do, and all of them went to local technical colleges. Furthermore, I know a few guys who went through the entire process, school, apprentice, journeyman, then realized this...
