Yea as I said in the post above I am doing the work myself to gain knowledge and such also I just love the idea of working on the car in the garage late at night.
Alright guys I am going to do the job with a couple of friends who have done it before, so I can learn and save a lot of money lol. I will have the head checked out by my friend at his shop to see if it needs resurfacing and such but my question is about cleaning all of the parts. How and what...
Yea I figured it would vary I wanted to get an idea of what kind of boost creep I would get with a full 3in exhaust setup. Thanks.
I checked the TSRM and could not find where the clutch safety switch is and also how the hell do I change the passenger side corner parking light? The one right...
Quick question that is a bit off topic but better than making another thread. If I were to upgrade to a full turbo back 3 inch exhaust, how much of a PSI increase in boost would I get?
Yea the beep stops when I put my seat belt in like it beeps 5 times or so and when I put my seat belt on the second or third beep it stops, so I figure it's a seat belt reminder or just normal start up beeping lol.
When I put the key in, it beeps a few times then I press the clutch all the way down, turn the key and nothing happens, so I re-press the clutch and it starts up. A friend of mine said the clutch safety switch might be going bad, what do you guys think it is? Also it only starts up after it is...
Subbed for inspiration, I plan on getting my 7m up to 400-450hp max way down the line reliably as well, if that extra 50hp would decrease reliability then I'll settle for 400 lol. Very clean setup can't wait to see the end product.
My pearl white MK3, entirely original but the front bumper and some other areas could use a repaint and to fix that ding in the door. Pics don't do it justice when the sun or especially the moonlight hit's the car just right it looks absolutely beautiful.
and here is a little photoshop I...
hahahaha, if i didn't think I could do it I would not even take the chance. I am keeping this baby until the wheels fall off, which might not be too far off since it's all 21 years old lol.
So a graphite head gasket will do me fine? I plan on going metal when I can reach my HP goal but like I...
I wasn't going to do the engine swap myself lol I wouldn't trust myself with a job that big, I can do a head gasket change and I have decided to stick with the 7M for the power I want to achieve also it's a reliable motor right if maintained and such?
Yea, I will be sure to get a good EGR cooler gasket. Thanks for the help guys really will help me get started on tearing down the motor and replacing this stuff.
Yea I am getting a head gasket kit for sure but the head gasket it comes with is graphite, so I want to get an OEM or close to OEM gasket. I am not planning on reaching my 400+HP goal until a long long long time from now at this stage I just want to fix the head gasket, replace a few others...
Another question came to mind when I was looking at head gaskets, is the price difference from OEM ($85) vs. Fel-pro ($65) worth the price difference? I've seen some guys on here using Fel-pro gaskets without issues but is OEM better than Fel-pro or the same? By the time I am done with this car...
Seeing your pics makes me want to paint my pearl white MK3 to that red or milano red it's such a hard decision!!! repaint pearl white or red white or red white or red!!!! Beautiful MK3 man I wish I could work on mine at 3AM, once I get my head gasket and ARP studs I will for sure lol.
