After many descisions, i have decided to go 1jz.

I just had to make the same decision, & I'm rebuilding a 7M. After thinking over both options (rebuilt 7m or used 1j), I decided that I would have to rebuild the 1j too because of my perfectionistic ways, so why not just stick with a 7m.

After many descisions, i have decided to go 1jz.

1j Supra clip is $2200-3000 whereas a 2j & 6 speed is around $5500. After you buy the 2j you spend more money picking up the bits & peices to finish the installation. My prices may be off as I going off of memory

I've heard that it could handle a lot, but the exact number evades me.

Adjustable CAM Gears, Who uses them, do and donts

Exactly, 98% that have them aren't using them for what they were designed for. Nothing but show.

    Engine Management

I recommend that you do a lot more research & solidify your goal before you drop any money. You can't get 450rwhp with a 57 trim, so you need to rethink the path you're going to take. Just my .02

AEM only to to get rid of the AFM? There a MAFT instead. With your upgrade ideas, you're looking at 430rwhp max, so AEM is not on the sensible side. Stick with your SAFC & save yourself $1000 plus.

    I love Ebay.......

I saw that one, but I think it's missing the steel friction surface, so it woud end up costing you more. Am I wrong? :icon_conf

    Engine Management

If you're looking for a stand alone EMS then yes, AEM is considered one of the best & it does get rid of the AFM. The SAFC will not be needed as it scales (or fools) the AFM signal before it reaches the factory ECU. Since the AEM replaces the ECU & the AFM, there's no need to scale the AFM...

From what I've read, Dr Jonez is working on monitoring the timing & possibly controlling it later. You should read his "MAFT Pro is working" thread, lots of good info.

    Auto tranny questions!!!!!

Let me be the first in this thread to say that the A430 sucks ass. I have spent a lot on money to find that out. I had mine rebuilt (shoving a lot more clutches & friction plates in it, too) & I fragged it after less than 2k miles, and i'm not pushing more than 300rwhp. Do yourself a favor...

High boost, turbo pipes blow up!!!

17 lbs of boost on that set up? I'll say you'll frag the motor before 2005 is over.
