Personally, I've seen maybe 5 or 6 people on here with the patience and level of dedication required to pull something like this off. I say find another chassis that you like, swap in your LS3 (nice engine, cheap cam upgrade bumps them up to 480hp, check out Flyin Miata's website for more...
I meant if you didn't have the hood shocks, you have only a hood prop holding up your hood, and the wind blows... picks up your hood, prop goes whichever way, hood slams... not pretty. :nono:
Same here man, I learned not to stand in the center of the hatch after the catch fell right in the...
What to look for buying a Mk3...
1. Check wallet. Is it full? Good, it won't be for long. ;)
2. Check your patience level. Are you patient? If not, move on and buy a different car.
3. Check how disciplined you are. Supras require discipline, money, and patience. If you don't have all three of...
Also, some people are awesome drivers, but know next to jack about how to build a motor... I've seen it before. Personally, I probably lean more toward driving, only ever got into the mechanical side of understanding out of financial necessity. ;)
As for the original subject, it would be an...
So, run as high of octane as you can afford, and set it up to inject the water/methanol at anything over say... 5-8psi? Sounds like it would be a blast on the street...
Guy I bought my car from said it had 1200hp and was powered by unicorn farts. Guess you can't believe everything someone...
I was speaking in generalities, iron block vs iron block, aluminum block vs aluminum block, more cubes tends to equal more weight.
Another benefit to swapping in a 1uz? Better weight distribution, much of the engine should sit behind the axle. :)
Noel, could you highlight the defect that you speak of? I have one that was produced in a GB some time ago, but haven't bothered to put it on...
Also, not to rain on any parades, but wouldn't this just open a hold to the radiator support? Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at my car, I do...
I wish I had a chance to drive one to see if I like it, but I've heard plenty of good things. Do you just re-use your stock (or MC) bushings on this? I'll keep an eye on this, if I end up deciding it's not for me, there's always a market for them. :)
Personally, I'd use some sort of heat shield, and run an open element filter inside a custom "box" in the stock location, maybe use tubing of some sort to route the air in... not sure there is room though, due to the headlight.
Good writeup. I remember doing this a while back, and for whatever reason, I always forget about the "rotate" method. Trust me when I say these things won't bend easily... broke the first one trying. :nono:
Good news is, do it once and you can forget about it for a looooooong time. :)
Not too shabby, if not for the whale tail and hood, you wouldn't suspect much...
1jz head gaskets are hard to come by you say? Hmm... might have to dig a bit and see if I still have the one that came with the kit I bought, we just reused the stock one that Toyota put in there. :)
Update? Did you figure out what it was? I'd recommend jack stands if you're going to be under it while it's being "driven" in the air, but I hope that goes without saying...
Did you find any zip ties? ;)
Guys, for those of you with kids, may I suggest that you teach your children to, you know... LOOK before attempting to cross the street? Nearly ran over a girl yesterday because she couldn't be bothered to look before riding her bike RIGHT out in front of me. If I didn't like scratches on my...
Here's my thought on the subject:
-Lower CR requires more boost to make XXX hp.
-Higher CR requires less boost to make same hp level.
Which one of these two is going to have better response, spool time, and power curve? If anyone can steer me in another direction if my thoughts are off base...
Hell, my stock hood moves around enough to make me a bit nervous (missing the rear firewall seal, highway speeds cause rear of hood to shimmy a bit more than I'm comfortable with), so with a hood I've paid good money for, you bet your ass I'd recommend pins.
