Which is why you bring the air TO your intake box, leaving the filter in a box shielded from engine bay heat, with ducting to said box from outside... Makes perfect sense to me. Even road temps in Phoenix are still lower than what's under the hood. ;)

Can you save up a bit longer and get a 6262 ball bearing? That's what I would do if I were in your shoes. Worst case scenario, if your car is your daily, you'll burn a little more oil with the twins dying.

Remember, doing things to the engine tend to be easier when said engine is out of the car... Unless you don't mind pulling the motor out on occasion, I say swap it now if you have all the needed components to replace the fan. Too bad Toyota didn't still sell hydrofans...

Box it off completely? Top, and both sides? I'm debating on coating said box with some sort of ceramic coating, jethot, something like that, at least on the radiator side of things. Plenty of other things to worry about until then though. For what it's worth, a little bit of water won't hurt...

I believe that's what Devin did, with good results too. External waste gates are a good investment. Keep in mind though, that this is one of 3 engine things you do NOT want to cheap out on. The other two being the turbo and fuel system.
