LOL, from the 'things you never thought you'd see written on Supra Mania' file, Ian complains about making too much power. :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
I've heard it all now, LOL.
I agree. I never messed with it because I wasn't making but 260ish rwhp before my rebuild, so I set the boost as high as I could (I couldn't afford to lose any, ya know) :biglaugh:
Anyway, after I get my new motor in & broke in well, I want to play my AVC-R a lot more to see how much I can...
I see where you're going with this. I almost positive it get's the speed from the ECU. I've never messed with my AVC-R enough to set boost according to gear selection, so I can't advice on its' functionality.
it senses gears by the value from RPM divided by vehicle speed. This is found on page 34 in the AVC-R instruction manual. :icon_bigg
Ian, I love the AVC-R. It get's my recomendations.
One thing to consider after polising aluminum: Zoop Seal! It's a little on the pricey side ($130ish), but once you seal it with ZoopSeal, no need to polish your parts again for years. The company says 3-4 years, but talking to others that have used it, it's more like 8-10 years.
Get a palm sander, and a dremel will help immensely too. I have about 4 hours in my manifold, with most of the time being spent on the runners.
My advice is to spend more time sanding with the rougher grits, definitely not less. After skipping the lower grits & sanding for hours, I had to...
No matter how smooth the piece of aluminum I'm working is, I always start with 80 grit. Sand it w/ 80 grit until you think you've removed all the high spots, then hit it again for another good bit. IMO, the first round of sanding is the most crucial. If you miss something in the early stages...
Got the pieces in today & I have to say that I'm impressed with the quality. I did call Global Tech to dispute the shipping charges, and they told me that they only bill your credit card for the actual shipping charges ($28 & change instead of the $65).
Also, if there is enough interest in...
they have up to 8" actually, but here's the cost for some of their 4" 304 stainless (they have other radii bends too)
4" 16 ga. 304 Stainless Steel Elbow, 90 x 6" CLR
Price $30.86
You Save: $7.71
4" 16 ga. 304 Stainless Steel Elbow, 60 x 6" CLR
Price $28.52
You Save: $7.13...
Werd! My machinist sent my entire rotating assembly (harmonic balancer to the pressure plate) to a guy in North Carolina so he could balance it. Skipping the balance would be suicide.
I bought these from globaltecheng.com. 5-45's, 2-90's & 5 feet of 3" aluminum piping for my I/C piping & 4-45's, 2-90's & 5 feet of 304 stainless for my exhaust. I thought less than $350 shipped was a great deal, but I offer it to you for your use.....
