So: the car runs great with the repaired ECU. :icon_bigg On my last trip I also started to pull the motor so I can figure out where the oil leak is coming from. I think I just didn't do a good enough job of sealing the flywheel bolts, but we'll see. I got a better welding helmet...

Got around to milling my bellhousing spacer plate that I showed the model for earlier. My first attempt broke the only bit I had so I had to order more. This time I did my surface clearing and contours with less depth/more passes and it worked great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBQ4vy9QLLg

Messing around with my car again.

if you were to put an out-flowing (to atmosphere) check valve between that breather and the valve cover, one that has an opening pressure of 2-3psi or so, you would still be drawing crankcase air through the oil catch can and into the turbo the majority of the time, but when the pressure in the...

Messing around with my car again.

It could be you have a lot of blow-by gasses and pressure in your crankcase is overwhelming the pcv a little. you could try placing some restrictors of some kind in the hose or maybe add s checkvalve and vent somewhere.

    1986 GA70 1GZ-FE Build

Agreed! This keeps happening, where I see an old build thread I was excited about, I click on it thinking there's updates, then it's just a HEY WHERES THE UPDATES MAN? post. haha

The ECU repair is underway with low ESR caps --hopefully I end up with a working ECU. [edit: appears so!] I've been pretty busy in and outside of work so no additional progress on IC piping. I did collect some stuff for some wiring... 4 ground-triggered solid state relays (I have NPN transistors...

Headlight Conversion For 1990 Toyota Supra

I kinda wish they made the LED headlights in a lower color temperature. I was looking at them not long ago and probably would have pulled the trigger if they were a lower color temp than 6K. I'll probably get them anyway at some point. On a related note, JW Speaker has really nice LED...

    Project Git 'er done!: Stages 1, 2, 3, 4....Stage 5- Reassembly after 13 years!!!

That other car is a nice find. Interesting tow hook. I have something like that but not hinged. (It's hinged, right?)

DM upgraded 1JZ ct12a pictures ... no dyno, yet.

Right now I'm waiting on replacement capacitors for the ECU. If this fixes my intermittent dead cylinders and other weird efi issues it'll mean these babies go on a lot sooner... I'm almost done with my (mild) porting work on my spare set of exhaust manifolds and they are going to get sent...

    Miekedmr's build thread

Update! So I made a little bit of progress with fabricating my IC piping, but most of my time has gone towards troubleshooting EFI issues, which are: engine doesn't usually idle on its own, idles very slow when it does Lots of missing/hesitation, even when all 6 cylinders appear to be at least...

    The Small Questions Thread

more info on the above: I cleared the ecu and the light went off. Starting the car made it come back on, and again grounding Te1 is not making the light blink as expected. Another thing I wanted to ask on here is: Do my cams gears look like they might be off a tooth? (Possible from when I...

    The Small Questions Thread

Hey guys. Maybe not the best place to ask, but: My 1jz-gte from a Chaser has a check engine light hooked up to it but the thing is on constantly even when I have TE1 and E1 jumpered to read the codes - it doesnt blink. Previously we WERE able to get a code 12 and 14 out of it, but not anymore...

Thanks! Good(-ish) news: I pulled the codes and it has a 12 and a 14, which are for the CPS and ignitor, respectively. I also checked ignition coil resistance and it was pretty uniform across the board. I didn't really expect to find anything but it was easy to do. I think I will try to...

    Miekedmr's build thread

Updates from last weekend! #1: My upgraded 1JZ twins came in from driftmotion! #2: I drove the car a few miles and let it get up to temp and found some things: there's an oil leak at rear of block, either crank bolt holes, just-replaced rear main seal, or maybe half moon seals in head...

DM upgraded 1JZ ct12a pictures ... no dyno, yet.

This got delivered last Monday. I requested the housings get treated with black thermal coating in addition to all the work normally offered. Apologies for the sub par camera. Unfortunately I have to pull my motor out to address an oil leak at the back of the engine (either crank...

    Jeremy's 89 Supra Turbo Build

Hey 89soup, that's kinda how my story goes. I was always really eager to build a nice supra since owning my first ~10 years ago, but it took being in a place in my life where I could actually commit the time and money. Look forward to seeing your progress and good luck!
