Headlight Relay Rewire, Adjusting for volt drop

My goal was/is to keep jb#2 to make use of the fuses and power distribution already in place. The harness has to be unwrapped but gives me a chance to add the additional ground for point A to the battery. Stock wire to headlights is alarmingly small. Grounding through the headlight switch just...

Headlight Relay Rewire, Adjusting for volt drop

I see, forgot to account for the coil resistance. Roughly 90ohms for the ones Im using. Might have been an interesting show! Thanks Jon The stock headlight relay is connected similarly but in a positive switching manor with the load down line. updated schematic, including integration of...

Headlight Relay Rewire, Adjusting for volt drop

I'd agree its a bit anal. Planning to reuse the stock fuse locations to provide power to headlights with new connector/wires. New grounds controlled through relay. Stock hi beam dimmer switch ground will pilot relay. 86-hi beam 12v, tied into 87 85- hi beam ground switch 30-ground...

Headlight Relay Rewire, Adjusting for volt drop

In the middle of planning for a headlight/foglight rewire using relays. Im probably splitting hairs here. Would it be advisable to to vary the size of wires used to produce a voltage drop that is consistent at each light? 12ga wire at 6a/14v and 6 ft would drop 0.11v to the passenger...

to be fair, the youth have learned what they now from their upbringing.. ie parents = older generation. it started some where... They choose to continue the path they take on their own. So i blame both, kid and parent. The parent for not beating them hard enough (kidding) and the kid for not...

    Getting more 7M revs...

dang so what does my 6500rpm rev limiter make me? Look at that cold stare of kens, 7ms worst fear..

    Cold engine slight tap/knock

I could see piston slap. Never seen it on a stock piston 7m. Increased rpm or load should make it louder. Usually tapers off as things warm up. Subarus are notorious for this.

Would it be a waste to..

it will be faster to charge on the high side port. Make sure to use the Freeze 12 stuff. Hold the can under your arm to warm it as it empty's. Once the HCFC-142b leaks out, your compressor performance will improve. No need to change the dryer or vacuum the system. No worries on contaminants...

    Suspension Bushings

Why didnt those guys go all the way and take care of the subframe bushings?

    Cold engine slight tap/knock

^ that's a good point. The t6 will offer a better cold viscosity much similar to a 5w30.

    Copper Washers - Brake lines

^ should have them, bring the banjo bolt with you. Very common and simple item your looking for.

^ unless you loosened each bolt/nut, you simply measured the breakaway tq. This will always be higher then actual fastener tq. The tq wrench HAS to be moving smoothly and consistently to accurately measure TQ.

    Cold engine slight tap/knock

check the cam cap clearances. Specifically on the exhaust side #6 and #7. Last place to receive oil in the engine.

thats quite an over tq. Typical stud Tq is 85-95 ftlbs depending on the kit. ARP changed the specs slightly through the years I believe my studs where over tqed by the PO. Mine had circular cracks in the metal HG where the edge of the bore met the bottom of the gasket. The cracks outlined the...

    Copper Washers - Brake lines

should be able to find them at any ace or mom and pop hardware store. Make sure the surface of the caliper that the washer sits on is clean and flat, been around that block with remanned calipers before..

    more cooling needed.

How do you test for or monitor pump cavitation? I know the M3 guys were working on a clear coolant hose and dyno time. They were hoping to see it visually. Never heard how the test went.

Tack welding subframe to chassis. Tell me why this is a bad idea

You going to have to have some form of metal spacer to fill in the 1/4" gap where the rubber top hat sits. The subframe doesnt sit flush with the body of the car. The metal spacers would at least give you a larger surface area to transfer the load. Metal bushings would accomplish the desired...

    Really Stupid Coolant Issue.

my BHG took 2 years to fully develop and fail a block test. The reservoir level would take 2-3 heat cycles after a hard run to return to 'normal' levels. If I drove it like a normal car, no hard boost, the reservoir level always returned to normal after cool down. Eventually it began slowly...

    more cooling needed.

At one of the local tracks a group of E46 m3 guys began hitting temp run away issues. They narrowed it down to water pump cavitation and lack of airflow. Main issue of concern was that they spent 30 mintues between 4-8000rpm at speeds that didnt provide enough airflow. The m3 has a clutch fan...
