No more codes!!! But now I have pretty magic smoke!

Avoid eBay turbos; they are junk, and you are asking for failure. Get your turbo properly rebuilt, and make sure you get the coolant lines correctly attached. While the turbo is off, it's also a good time to make sure that you have all the heat shields and turbo stays that may be missing from...

    Bad radiator cap?

The best person to ask if they have a cap on hand is the person who works the parts counter. Give them a call tomorrow morning and you'll know. I would be willing to bet they do have one on hand, since it's universal for many different Toyota vehicles.

    Bad radiator cap?

If you're having trouble finding a decent cap, do yourself a favor and go to your local Toyota dealership. The extra $10 is completely worth it.

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Jeremy - I've got a few things I'm interested in off the parts car. I have some 91-92 wheels too if you're interested in a trade.

Is this a good first car?

This is so completely true it hurts. People going through that process is the reason that there are so few nice Supras around, and they're being gobbled up and destroyed every day.

which color to get xxr 521

Silver no question. Black and gold look really cheap and tacky.

    Iowa Roll Call

Don't worry, this WILL happen. We've had meets at the SupraSport shop in Stillwater the last couple years, but it has changed ownership now and I'm not sure if we'll have the space. Regardless, us MN guys are all pretty good friends, so I'm sure a meet or two will happen. I'm always looking for...

What drugs/head injury prompted your Username?

emiliorescigno. My name. Emilio Rescigno It's my username pretty much everywhere, and it started when I was first making my AOL Instant Messenger account in elementary school. I didn't understand the concept of a "username", so I just popped my name in instead. It's really handy for most games...

Need a reliable, cheap dd (AKA I hate VW)

IIRC, early 9th gen corollas (and matricies) had some clutch troubles with the earlier models, like the 03-04s. It was fixed later however, and the automatic is obviously unaffected. My parents replaced their horrible '02 Forester with an '07 Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix clone), and it's been a...

Drop a line to the MN guys if/when you have a Des Moines meet. I'd love to go.

Need a reliable, cheap dd (AKA I hate VW)

My parents had a 2002 Subaru Forester. It needed a new steering rack and headgaskets at 37,000 miles.

    Speedo cable keeps breaking!!

Have you been getting new ones from the Toyota dealership or getting used ones as replacements? The speedo cable goes out quite frequently on these cars, and a new OEM cable from Toyota is the best fix.

Need a reliable, cheap dd (AKA I hate VW)

Whenever people ask me to recommend reliable and inexpensive cars, I always seem to come back to mentioning Honda Accords, primarily the 90-02 cars (though avoid the 98-02 automatic models!!). Myself and several friends & family drive them, and they're completely reliable, cheap to run, and...

    Free Mods

Electric fans do a considerably worse job of cooling the engine versus the stock fan clutch. Instead of trying to hunt down cheap/free ways of "modding" your car, spend your time and effort on maintenance and repairs. It'll be a more gratifying car to own, running better and being more reliable.

    Iowa Roll Call

I would certainly check out the traction bars first to see if they're bent. The stock pair on my '88 were bent so badly the car wasn't even able to be correctly aligned. Also, as has been discussed in many other threads on SM, strut bars don't do much good at all on MKIII Supras.

Emilio's Rebuild & Improvement Build Thread

Mixed bag of news for the 1 or 2 people that still follow this thread: I got a big stack of new (used) parts today to satisfy my inner OCD so no parts are missing on this car. I also did a bit more work on the A/C and discovered some "interesting" handywork done to the Evaporator....looks like...
