I'm definitely going to follow this thread and see what people have to say. It seems that all your plans/goals/budget are exactly the same as mine, so I might as well keep track of what you're up to. :icon_bigg
That is correct that I am running the car off of wastegate with a full turbo-back exhaust, no boost controller.
My previous Supra had a full turbo-back exhaust, IC/piping, boost controller, and all those "basic" modifications, so I have a pretty good idea of what the car would be like...
Sounds like exactly the same car as mine, sans non-redline shifting.
I haven't, I just have them set at 35 psi and haven't done any alteration.
Is there some way to "wipe" the memory of the computer? It seems like a totally backwards idea to limit a car's performance just because you...
To clarify, this car has a full exhaust from turbo back, including a SupraSport turbo elbow and an RT downpipe. Boost never seems to get past the top of the stock boost gauge.
After my first run, I had the same thought about the floor mats, and pulled the drivers' mat out for the second and...
I think this is what irks me most about my times. I am slightly slower than a stock time with a full exhaust, which I know makes a pretty dramatic difference over the restrictive stock system.
The car is in great condition, and the engine doesn't hesitate/miss/stumble or anything that is...
I went to the track earlier today for my first time ever at a local "Sport Compact" event. Needless to say, I ran some really stupidly terrible times, so I come to you, Supramania, with questions.
To start, the car. My car is an '88 Turbo/Hardtop/Auto, it's almost completely stock, with the...
My A/C works, and my balls are well chilled now. I went to the track, and put down some really shitty times. Turns out I suck at drag racing, have problems with the car, or both.
My god does the crotch vent in the A/C system rock though.
I've been looking over all this info and getting a little "wish list" together for myself. My only major stumbling block is the terminal that's used for the Radiator Cooling fan switch/Knock sensors. Did you ever find a terminal that works with those connectors? Other than that, I have found...
Wow - WOW! That is awesome to see all the connectors and Toyota part numbers for each one. For now I'm "refreshing" my harness and connectors that are all on the water neck area of the car. (O2, CPS, AFM, 5 Temp Sensors)
The rest of my harness is in pretty spiffy condition and I would hate to...
I've been doing a lot of wiring harness repair recently, and following your thread pretty closely. What are these other vendors you speak of? My local Toyota dealership didn't have any of the knowledge/books needed to find the right housings and terminals. Actually, I'd love to start compiling...
I'll do whatever process is easier to do. I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but I don't have access to any of these tools - if you could that may be awesome. I did just replace any bad components and got all new o-rings, so fingers crossed things should be alright. You never know though...
Wow, it's been almost 4 months since I posted here. I will get some pictures shortly, but the car is back together and running for the season again. I have a lot of odds-n-ends to tie up, in addition to new projects to tackle.
To Do:
Install AC Dryer and recharge the system. (Maybe you can lend...
I am of the mindset "Sooner in the summer the better" usually. I feel like a lot of meets get pushed way back into the end of summer and a lot of really nice May/June days are missed.
You should start by determining for sure what you're burning. Turn the car on and take a look at the smoke that comes out. As Steve said: Blue = Burning Oil, White = Burning Coolant. Only then will you start to get a handle on what the problem may be.
