Agreed 100%. You can't just drop one in, as tempting as it may be. I plan on doing a full rebuild on mine any route I choose to take.

Yup, I go about 10k now with my GC. :) It actually makes the extra cost of the oil a moot point wince you can go a bit longer without a change. Especially when you can get it on special at Autozone or Pepboys. Good stuff. I have 13 quarts on my bedroom shelf. Such a dork. :rofl:

Hmm.. I'm confused. Normally when you run out of coolant, your temp gauge SPIKES because the air is REALLY hot compared to the coolant moving through the system. Overheating causes oil to fill spark plug galley? I suppose if the rubber gaskets get too hot, they'd lose their sealing properties...

What I'm getting at is that the W58 feels more like a car tranny. The R154 is great for holding power, but it feels much more like the tranny in the early 90's 4runners than any other car. I realize the W series was used for many applications, but its a lighter duty tranny. It feels more...

No need to convert to R154 until you get to about 350rwhp. :) Until I reach that power mark, I'll enjoy the smooth shifting, CAR transmission that's in my 90 n/a now. Once I grow beyond what the W58 can handle, I'll swap over to the bulletproof, heavy duty truck tranny that is the R154. ;)
