Lol.
Why couldn't I have known this BEFORE last night.?
Maybe some button head bolts would have fit behind it, but I definitely want to run the backing plate.
Getting there...
Had a small setback yesterday.
After I installed the head, I installed my AEM cam gears and torqued them down. Tried to check rotation of the cams, and neither one would budge a single millimeter.
I started freaking out in my mind, wondering if pistons were hitting valves...
Ditto.
My mom had a corona mkII. It was one of her favorite cars ever.
And yeah- an engine cover would be a novel idea, or perhaps two smaller covers that hide most of the junk on the inner fenders...
IF you're getting pulse to the injector plugs, and IF your injectors have proper impedance, and IF you can hear them clicking(opening), then the only thing it could be, is either a blocked rail, or blocked injectors.
Does that logic sound right?
Complete head.
Relapped one intake and 2 exhaust valves, and then did the shim-shim twostep.
I swear, adjusting valve clearance takes at least two tries per cam, no matter how carefully i measure.
Valves installed.
Leak testing the valves, to see if the lapping was adequate.
Oops. So far, I have to re-lap intake valve #1 on cylinder 4.
Yes, it's koolaid.
shut up.
;)
The head? Not much.
Maybe 3hrs porting/ polishing.
Just spent about 2hrs cleaning the valves, rough-lapping them, then fine-lapping them into the seats.
I'm about to clean the head and begin assembly.
LOL.
I think I'm getting too OCD about polishing this stupid head...
The ports aren't perfect all the way throughout, but I realize that IF I really wanted perfection, I'd have to polish the intake manifold and runners as well, and frankly, I don't have that kind of motivation.
Aha.
I just googled a few pics, and realized that the original MkI Supra had one of these.
As for the particulars on the rear wing, I pretty much agree with Absolute Speed:
3rd brake light- either way is fine
Design- One piece. It shouldn't extend out to the sides as far as a whale...
