you have to pull UP on the connector, like towards the top of the car (connector sits horizontally) hope it works for you! Make sure the light buttons are both pushed in when you do it.

as far as the plug, i don't think anyone will be able to help without a pic... the vacuum nipple, is it the one facing the firewall? because i believe that one goes inline with the vacuum to the cruise control, using a "t" connector?
