Pressure test the cooling system, and check for leaks, @ 20psi, most leaks become pretty obvious. Also, is there any white smoke coming out of the exhaust?

Is there white smoke coming from the exhaust at all? Does the exhaust smell funny? Like sweet smelling? Also, get a Toyota radiator cap, and once everything is right, I would get a genuine Toyota Thermostat as well.

Also, is your radiator cap a Toyota one?
To check if it's burning coolant, I would let it get to operating temp...drive it as much as you can, w/out the coolant overflowing...and then turn it off, let it cool down completely (like 4-5 hours)...
You don't have to hit the CPS, just jiggle the wires coming from it...sounds like it needs to be re-wired...
BTW...will anything be damaged by running the timing that far in advance?
Update: WeezL is supplying me with the Center section, taillights, and possibly the bumper. (Thanks WeezL!) All I need now is an 87 3rd brakelight lens, and the two left and right rear mouldings...Anyone have any? :biglaugh:
