    heater hose question

my car would do the exact same thing, and I tried and tried to figure out the problem, It ended up being my radiator cap! i didn't suspect the cap, because it was new from Toyota, but I guess even toyota can't get it right all the time!...I would suggest you get a new one, or at least pressure...

Well, you're welcome!! :biglaugh: Us Supra people have it pretty bad...Supras are so old now, that almost all of the problems that we encounter are age related... When my car shut off when entering a driveway, then again while braking in the middle of a large four lane highway...i almost...

    Cold start tapping/knocking...uh oh....

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it so much, and just put Synthetic oil in the next oil change to clean the oil passages a bit (or a quart of ATF)... Of course that is just my personal opinion though, my .02. I am kinda the same way you are, and freak out about every little thing...

    heater hose question

Well then what are you worried about? Keep driving it and see what happens, I personally think that the overheating problems were caused by your electric fan.

    Sound from new cam gears

I was right! the belt was stretched slightly! You should think about getting a new spring for your tensioner, they tend to get lazy.

    Sound from new cam gears

I still think it's the belt binding on something...if that isn't the problem, then something is rubbing! :aigo: maybe the belt is stretched out?

    Sound from new cam gears

Is it just me, or does the intake cam gear look like it's sticking out farther than the exhaust side?

A few little 7m project updates

Damn Aaron! Your car just keeps getting better!! What does pnp stand for? And I love the relocation idea...that is the intake manifold stay, right? Does having longer plug wires affect spark at all?

    Sound from new cam gears

Are these cam gears adjustable? Maybe they aren't perfectly on 0? It sounds like the timing belt teeth aren't lining up on both cams...

    heater hose question

Yes, that's exactly what my car does, and even at normal operating temp...touching the engine will likely burn you. Is the stock fan loud while you are driving? Can you hear it "fanning"? LOL So the guage says it's fine, then?

    heater hose question

That's normal behavior, and the level going down means it's flowing. Do you still have an electric fan?
