From what I've heard, the soft, stock suspension setup is very good for the drag because the car will squat onto the rear wheels, transferring weight and helping to gain traction. A stiff suspension can be a bad thing because weight stays in the front, and the rear wheels don't have weight...
It's a work in progress. I have a few things that I need to replace on the motor that are all minor, including the throttle cable. But man does it pull hard.
Joe, we all want to see your 1J. I just realized I've never seen it and I now I really want to.

I have to agree with some of these peeps, those rims don't look right. The lip is way too deep for my taste. 2" or 3" ok, but not 6". You should look into something possibly wider as far as tires go for the rear than 285. I think that even with a 285, those tires will still look stretched...
My boost guage does the same thing as Joe's. He's right, get an aftermarket one. Otherwise your going to be looking at a pegged boost gauge and have no clue how much boost you're running. Good luck on the swap. You'll love the 1J, trust me.:naughty:
From what I've heard and read, the stock twin's are only good up to about 350 rwhp. After that the turbine wheels crack from the heat. A good remedy for this is to upgrade to steel turbine wheels.

So how's it coming Aaron? If I can get my other car back and sell it, I would love to swap in you conversion since I think my stock twin are starting to go.

Aaron, you are the man. Your passion for the Supra's inspires us all. Former auto 7M-GTE owner, current 5-speed 1JZ-GTE owner. Everybody has their own opinion of both motors. They are completely different in both design and power band. If you have a question about something, start by doing...
Smog? Ha! That's a good one. I just renewed my tags (got lucky and didn't have to take it through the testing). But reallity of it is, you can't legally smog a 1J in California. You have to bribe someone. Ask around, people here will be able to tell you who to go to and how much.

I just got my 1JZ put in and my liscense plate lights up, but the front and rear lights don't. Any body got any suggestions on how to fix this? I don't think it is the fuse, but I'll replace it anyways just in case. If it's not the fuse, I don't know.
