my uneducated guess would be that if it ran good, that it won't be a problem. After draining, you may get some smoke, as it burns off the oil though. How long did they run it with that in it though?

Would it not still be connected to the clutch pedal no matter where that pedal is located? Besides, I didn't think Aussie cars were RHD. But Yes, if their pedals in a RHD car are set up the same as ours (clutch, brake, gas L to R), the clutch would be closer to the middle of the car.
