I have changed far more headgaskets and shortblocks in Toyota V6 trucks than Supras or Cressidas. Percentage wise.
Yes, they last a long fucking time if you take care of it. Not having many parts to break means less breakage too. Duh.
There is a fine line between bait and switch and creative advertising, which is legal. Just like a McDonalds sandwich picture.
Crooked salespeople know just how to straddle that line.
Adding oil only changes cylinder pressure if you have a sealing problem in the cylinder itself.
There may be nothing wrong with it. You could have a spark plug hole that is slightly damaged. If you confirm that it is 90 psi, you should have felt it driving. If you didnt, you are getting a...
The reason you "tap" a starter is the contacts are wore down. You are just vibrating it closer.
That kind of sounds like a discharged battery to me. You need much more amperage to turn over the engine that just engage relays, radios, and lights.
If you don't want the noise, like me, get the LIPP high flow elbow. It looks a lot like the old HKS unit in the pictures. The HKS downpipe, elbow and bigger T04E spooled as quick as a stock CT, from those that used it back in the day.
If you dont like the noise.
Flaming is not a problem. Just the rudeness and name calling that sometimes goes on. If somebody has a bad idea, you should tell them.
If your neighbors house was buring down, would you tell them?
It is a great idea. That is what Honda builds the Civic for. It is cheap, no power, so it gets good fuel mileage. And not having much power keeps parts from breaking. This is why Honda in general is so reliable. It is just like having a Corolla.
You will probably get most of that info in IJ's 7M thread post he very recently put up.
The one benifit to the first gen crank is that it is probably free.
You have an exhaust leak downstream of the oxygen sensor?
Where is the CO? If the car can accelerate no problem, you arent as lean as your gas analyzer says.
How do you know the analyzer is calibrated correctly? Is the EGR functioning correctly? Do you know how to test it and pull it open...
You are correct. And there are small differences in the 91 and newer to better handle the power also. If you don't know where the trans came from, assume it came from a Cressida and you dont want it.
edit: I have a factory GTE with the A340E. 120k, and no problems.
