    Engine Prices

Toyota does not sell the engine. Your only option is a rebuild or a used unit. You will see most of the vendors selling the used imported engines on ebay.(JDM) They range from about $900 to as high as $1500, from what I have seen.

That is especially when you should run an auto. As I already said, the torque converter is a fluid coupling. So there is a power loss through slippage. On a full race car, they use a different set up altogether. Drive what you want.

    Auto Modifications

I would have said experience. Trans fluid is a bit different from other lubricants. It also has friction additives to help hold the clutches. But well worn clutches have been wiped clean by new fluid. In other words, people that did not bother with a fluid change the first 150,000 miles...

    another head gasket thread..

I hope you don't mind wasting the money you will spend on you MHG, when you have not corrected the problem, or said you will. A BHG is a symptom of another problem.

When was the last time a DOHC high tech engine of any sort won an NHRA funny car event? Or pro stock? Or top fuel? How about never.

And in Toyota electrical class, I do mean Toyota, not the dealer, they wanted soldered wires, not butt connectors from Napa.

The turbo trans has more in the clutch packs and a slightly bigger piston. And that proves what? That somebody that races an automatic is consentrating on tuning instead?

Good to have you in again. Very good post figgie. I also still don't like basic automotive "butt connectors", but have been shown that a good crimp is the way to go, if possible. I did my non scientific test today. Non scientific, but still worth while info. I cut two wires in half...

To add to that. I inquired with someone that ran a lot of mods. The 85mm piston kits didn't last too long. Not the piston, the block.

Do not put a higher rated fuse than what it came with. Check the circuit that blows the fuse for a direct ground. If the wiring seems ok, the component could be short, giving you a direct ground.

3 Car Pileup with my car in the middle *PICS*

I would highly suggest that. They will take wholesale value of the car and subtract mileage and wear and tear. They won't give you replacement cost, as it isn't your coverage. Nor will they add value from mods. They will add to proven rebuild records. Not much, but better than nothing. I...

Short pronunciation question from a foreigner

Sole-uh-noid Root and Rowt=route they both seem to roll of the tounge depending on who knows what. A midwestern one is a small river called a "crick" for creek. Not sure why people do that one.

There are 4 speeds with the A340E, not 4 gears. 3rd is not a gear, the input and output shaft are locked together, creating a 1:1 ratio. The auto loses on the dyno due to it puts less load on the engine with torque converter slippage, also causing a loss of fuel efficency. Planetary gearset...

Interesting post. Goes against most of what I have been educated on, including from the US Military. I can believe that about the strength. Solder is the weakest shit out there. You can wiggle a piece loose off the spool. It isn't needed on grounded vehicles. Not about the coductivity of a...
