    A/C recharge

Well, you need a recovery machine, probably dual systems if possible. You could have R12 still in it. If the compressor does not engage when you turn it on, yes it is probably leaked out. Spotting a leak is often not hard. Just look for the grime at the connections. But to be 100%, clean...

Should I retrofit to r134a? or is r12 possible?

If you are having it done by your buddy at Ford, he will check for leaks. Upsells are his lively hood. If he is on flat rate, he will likely be able to pull the car into his bay when not busy and hook up the gauge set to see what is going on.

    4.30 vs. 3.73 Gas Milage?

If it is LSD, it isn't a Cressida rear. I edited the post on how to count to 4. ;)

Should I retrofit to r134a? or is r12 possible?

R12 is available. Some shop owners just won't buy it. Converting will hurt nothing. Yes, it won't cool as well, as R134 does not have the 1:1 temperature to pressure ratio that R12 has. But it will still work. Fix your system. It is broke, that is why it isn't cold. If you can't recover what...

Need help with these ARP Studs

Torque means force in a rotating motion. Even with your fingers, you are applying torque. Just not a lot. Tighten them to how tight your spec sheet says from ARP.

    6 speed conversion

The Getrag six speed is noticably shorter in first and second to make up for the lack of low end torque in the JZ series. You don't need it. Want a taller o/d, get a Tremec. I am sure after 2 pages this has been covered.

    4.30 vs. 3.73 Gas Milage?

The Cressida is 3.91:1, and that sounds like what you have. Mark the inside of the tire with tire chalk, and the same with the drive shaft, so you get an accurate count. I will save the politcal commentary for the appropriate section, do the same.

    w58 tranny problems

1st and reverse are the deepest reduction, so effects of a bad disc are more apparent. The closer the ratio, the less you even need to disengage the clutch to shift. I would pull the trans and look, but with out a lift, it isn't a 30-45 minute job.
