I originally wanted a sunroof Mk3 for convenience. The problem is that this chassis was designed to be a Targa, so that the roof is small and short, with lots of rear bracing. Because of this, the sunroof can only open half-way and kind of defeats the purpouse. Compared to my Mk2, with a much...
Make a wood plate and mount these MB Quart 5.25's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MB-Quart-QM-130-KX-Speaker-set-with-crossovers_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38646QQihZ002QQitemZ120170349803QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
These speakers sound amazing. I have them in both of my Supras! Plus if you are...
I had a vinyl repair guy patch a couple of holes in my vinyl parts as I am refinishing my interior. The problem with our old interiors is that if you lean the panel or something against the vinyl, the foam underneath will permanently dent. He said that you can't do much about these dents...
Anyone know where I can get a simple bolt-in DIN-sized blank plate for mounting switches, etc? I want one that screws onto the factory brackets, but I can't find one anywhere.
The bezel is almost 27 inches long, so I had to buy a large sheet of carbon fibre, which was about $120 shipped at the time. The water jet cutting and CAD time to render the stainless bezel I had was $150, so $270 total. Not gonna do a group buy though.
This SEM paint stinks pretty instensely. Hopefully it airs out fast and doesn't linger by the time I resintall it. My whole house smells like paint fumes, even though the paint is bone dry and I've aired out the garage 3 times.
Thanks again for the approval guys! Venturing into uncharted territory with the Mk3 can be rather unnerving, wondering how it'll look, how it'll work out... plus I have yet to drive the car now that the framerails are full of mega-density foam..!
Making some more headway with the...
I read on the can that they offer a medium-gloss and high-gloss clear coats, depending on what sheen you want. The regular sheen is quite nice, not too flat. I figure if I want a high-gloss, armour-all or a similar product would work and be removeable.
Additional info: SEM makes a combined plastic AND vynil prep, OR separate plastic prep and vinyl prep. Looking at the cans, the combo prep and the vynil prep contain water which takes longer to dry, compared to the plastic only prep, which is a solvent that evaporates fast.
One can of each...
Lots of good feedback from SEM products. (It's what they use on that Unique Auto Sports TV show) When I picked up my paint from Lordco, the counter guy said he knew of a guy who painted his vinyl motorbike seat and it's holding up fine.
Just for info, I've used about 9 cans of paint and I...
Good Job. I opted to not use the primer on plastics. Although it does adhere well, you can scratch the paint off with your finger nail, so I am picking up some OEM grey parts that are high-wear - like handles and stuff. I'm surprised you managed to paint the carpet and grills. I found that the...
