I guess I'll just try the ACT XTSS with organic disc. The only reason I'm replacing my 6-puck is because of the terribly rough engagement and want it smooth like stock.
Pertaining to the original poster's questions, the MK2 is a far better choice for someone on a budget, compared to the Mk3 which in general has a much higher risk of costly problems, and more of them.
Mk2's are WAY more reliable than Mk3's. Blown head gaskets and rod knock are very rare on Mk2's, even with very high mileage. I've owned 2 Mk2's since 1993 and never had any major drivetrain problems. Almost every week on these forums you read about BHG's or rodnock on a Mk3.
Browsing user feedback here and on the HPF website, MOST people report the HPF bronze disc with ACT HD pressure plate to have smooth engagement. However, I've found 3 or more reports of chattery/harsh engagement even after following the recommended break-in procedure.
Is this kit a gamble...
Haha, it looks that way. We ended up cutting out the stock metal body fender lip and the lip on the overfender. We then bowed it out for another inch of width. For safety I wanted to not worry about my tires hitting anything if I'm doing 140 and hit a huge dip in the road that fully compresses...
Good looking upgrade. Although I often wonder about the restriction of keeping the stock inlet and outlet connectors like that. I upgraded my bosch BOV to a GFB brand one that flows much more and maintains more spool between shifts, but I still get the fluttering surge effect and can't help but...
Apparently S2 doesn't sell to North America. He may have huge trouble even getting a set. Kaze on the other hand ships fast! They cost a lot more but I had them within 2 weeks when I ordered online.
Another thing to remember is that wider rears mean you must modify your rear bumper and...
Here another innovative one. Is this a Saab too? http://youtube.com/watch?v=QGMRgQavXeU&feature=related

CooL! Maybe I'll install one of these into my ashtray that never gets used. It looks quite thin, is it strong enough? I like the way it moves out of the way of the stereo area.
I was thinking about this, for holding bottled water. But then I couldn't use my stereo!
Perhaps you forgot that men like to drape their legs wide open for comfort reasons... :)
In theory, I'm sure that the concept of effective voltage regulation is sound, since you can get circuit boards that pump out a steady 5v and 12v for car PC's even if the voltage dips below 12v. It may only be useful for keeping your LED's from dimming at low voltage, or keep your hard drive...
Very interesting. I've been using small 2-amp capable Sharp brand voltage regulator chips for my LED exterior lighting and to run my hard drive full of mp3's. Although I think 13.5 volts is ideal for a stronger spark and to charge the battery, whereas a steady 12 volts is needed for LED's and PC...
I disagree. I swapped out my 3.91? (87 turbo) for a 4.10 JDM diff. The turbo reached full spool LATER in the powerband with less load, and since I ran out of gear/rpm faster, I was spending LESS time in the powerband sweet spot, and this is even with a CT 57 trim. When the Torsen diff broke, I...
I've been using Spam Bully, and it sucks. Lots of false positives, and it won't even keep a database of my good email contacts.
There's so many now, what's the best one out there?? Freeware?
