    Smog Failure/O2 Sensor Question

    1) The 3 wire is not peculiar. 2) The 1 wire will work if it can be mounted. 3) I see little point in asking for help with an emissions problem unless you post the results up.

fans supposed to run after engine is shut off?

The fans normally don't run on this car after shutdown but they can be made to with a very simple wiring change under the hood. I did it to mine years ago.

    Baffled

Well, since I didn't read the link I'll grant you your point. Just that I do know better about the gadget and so does cuel. The guy asks for advice, gets it from a professional and knowledgeable mechanic, then rejects it out of hand. If I take his reply in the context of his other posts, and not...

    Baffled

I wasn't referring to the spark tester. Besides, this guy has a history of posts that make it obvious he's not teachable. Not going to waste my time. You do it. I'll just correct him when he's wrong.

    FAILED Cali Smog test...

Never thought to mention this before but I installed a short piece of .250 SS tubing into the top of the intake manifold fitting. Sticks up next to the brake booster hose. Lets me inject solvent into either the manifold passage or, by using a hand pump to open the EGR valve, into the valve...

    FAILED Cali Smog test...

I wouldn't exactly call twice the cut point close. All the valve does is disable EGR at certain times, none of which occur during the conditions under which the test is performed. Therefore installing a new one is the same as bypassing it and will not effect test results. You have other...

    Installing a catch can

Glad someone finally pointed it out. Bad news that. Being in the Ref section I almost deleted the post when it first went up but decided against it because of the effort he put in. I must be getting soft...

    Oil change interval?

And you've done well Grasshopper ;) Red: No offense taken. It was an inside joke. See, back when I was talking this stuff nobody listened. For example I was the first to mention GC on this forum. Nobody cared back then but now it's all the rage. Go figure. Not that what happened is unusual...

Are rising Gas Prices affecting anyone from further modifying your supra?

In some cars it heps trim the mixture and can even take over the job of the main sensor but on most it's there to monitor catalyst efficiency. Put another way it watches to see if the cat is working and, by default, watches to see if the upstream sensor is working. Btw, since you own an OBDII...

    Please help identify this part

Junkyard parts like this one will also be fatigued and may not last. Imo not worth the risk. The valve off a Corolla or early 90s Geo Prizm (a rebadged Corolla) will work. For example: http://tinyurl.com/4nlxua The hose barbs will be one size larger and the actuating lever will need to be...

My brother is a jack-ass, help

It's moot at this point because everything worked out but for future reference the above is just plain wrong.

    new lighting idea

No hate. Just my opinion and education at play. I'm finished as there's no getting around the ignorance displayed by the "I'm not distracted by white" comment. Nor can the logic in post 26 (or your post for that matter) be defeated. I'm beaten ;)

    new lighting idea

How it looks is a matter of opinion. As an engineer and pilot I'll state a matter of fact: white is the worst color possible for preserving night vision. Like the idiots who install HID kits you've chosen to ignore science and engineering in order to go backwards, all in the name of ignorance or...

    Helicoil error found (PICS ADDED)

^ Exactly. Both taps are *labeled* 7/16-14 but the helicoil one is of a larger diameter than a standard 7/16-14. You can't apply standard conventions to it when determining it's size.

    No Spark for my 7M-GE

Clowns? On SM? Say it ain't so ;) No STA doesn't kill EFI. STA only effects duration and timing and those effects get dumped once rpm crosses 500 rpm. In fact a whole bunch of things happen at 500 but that's another story.
