    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Replaced the slave cylinder today. Normally, Autozone or Oreilly's has the best prices on parts, But Pepboys surprised me with a $22 slave cylinder, when everyone else was asking $35. It was a LUK part(lsc225), but it's apparently OEM: But there's bigger news- I mated up the clutch...

    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Well, I got the struts in, and the fuel filter installed. Struts made a HELL of a difference in the rebound and compression. Doesn't look like I'll get to the engine install for a couple more days yet.

    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Yeah, Sorry there's been no updates recently, In fact, I haven't even been on SM much lately. But since last time I posted here, I've had the ex. manifold welded, bought a 2nd generation turbo muffler for the car, filled the motor mounts with urethane, rebuilt the throttle bracket assmebly...

    Knock senors!

I used two knock sensors out of a late 90's (i think) 4-runner. They use a different plug, but since I had those plugs as well, and they were in WAY better shape than mine, I just spliced them in. I've never had a KS code since.

    Trigger wheel conversion

Sounds like you might want to look into a Ford EDIS-6 system. They use a 35-0 tooth wheel and the whole system is pretty much self contained in the coilpack, EDIS box and crank sensor. http://trigger-wheels.com/store/index1.html

After market or custom upper ball joint

$85 each on Ebay right now(new), not too bad, and free shipping. But I wouldn't paint the uppers, anyway. The forged aluminum looks pretty pimp, IMO.

    rear lip

I would like it, except, I'd prefer it to not have such 'pointy' areas behind the wheels. If it was a little more tame in that area, it would look sporty, yet subtle, like what I imagine the factory might do for a "sport package".

    XXR rims

18" XXR 502's in gunmetal here. A little over a year now, no problems. Reading the earlier posts on the 502's, now I'm afraid to carry a screwdriver near them, for fear of dropping it on the lip. : )

    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Update: No new pics, but I did install the wiring harness. I'll be mounting the tranny onto the motor just before I install the engine into the car. Makes more sense that way, rather than leave the entire assembly hanging on the engine hoist. I'm still waiting on the exhaust manifold to get...

    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Hey Toyo- I need the top feed EGR, but I'm gonna find out this week if my existing one is going to be repaired or not. I'll let you know- thanks.

    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Slight bit of progress. I'm waiting to see if my exhaust manifold crack can be welded, but finally got the valve covers done in a blue wrinkle finish powdercoat: After sandblasting: Closeup: Motor thus far: I was going to assemble the clutch and tranny onto it, but got called...

    My other Toyota- '86 MR2

Hi guys- Here's a little story about my other car, my soon-to-be daily driver... Back in about 1996, my roomate told me he was going to Mexico for 6 months to sell timeshares. Along with him, his coworker decided to go as well. He had an '86 MR2, and didn't know where to put it for those 6...

I have run for 3 yrs on a 7mgte with the na oil stud/ no cooler. No problems, and I used 0w30 synthetic oil. My car is about go get retired to the garage for a complete renovation, at which time a thermostatic oil cooler setup will be employed(it's actually already installed).

Is 200psi on all cylinders bad or good?

Either that, or he's making up numbers and he doesn't know turbo engines. 200psi is on the high side of a typical NA motor.

Engine won't rev when set at 10 Degrees BTDC.

Yeah, putting a GM maf in blowthru mode is nice, and allows you to vent the bov to atmosphere with no problems. Hell- I have an extra GM maf that i'll sell you cheap if you decide to go this route.
