My local radiator shop was willing to boil mine out for $55. I had about 2 gallons thinner sitting in my garage so I dumped it in my tank along with a good amount of small rocks (landscaping rocks) and sloshed it around for a while. You could use gas too.
Michael, you haven't come in yet and welcome your Austin bretheren yet? Welcome from San Antonio. We'll all meet soon.
Oops, didn't see there was a second page.
I want to believe it's all in the balacing of the both compressor and turbine wheels. I've had a 50trim fail on me in three days of getting it back from Majestic Turbo. The shaft snapped. That's a small wheel. BTW Majestic Turbo out of Dallas, Tx. customer service sucks and they don't back...
This is exactly what I've recently experienced. Bought some Nitto drag radials, and found my weak link... clutch. So when is the tentative date for the race?
When are you going to drop it in... this weekend? Are you going to fire it up? I might be able to come up and give a helping hand. Just let me know what day and time and I'll see if I'm free.
Power goals.... I'd like to be in the mid 400's for now. The way it sits now I'll be lucky to hit 300rwhp/rwtq. I think I'm gonna pull the trans down this weekend and see what kind of damage is going on.
You found more Supra guys? Unfortunately I won't be coming. I think this week I'm going to be super nice and my wife and try to butter her up so I can get an upgraded clutch set. I don't think it's going to work, but it's worth a try. Any luck and I might get a six puck clutch disc outta her.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll look into those options. A friend of mine that has a small mechanic shop is going to let me use his lift and trans jack. Last time I pulled the trans at home the damn thing rolled off the jack and landed on my arm. It had me pinned for a bit. I don't wanna...
On the street it never slipped on me. Of course this was before I put drag radials on. I would just get wheelspin. My previous tires were so old they couldn't hold the power. I put the Nitto's on and now the weak link was the clutch.
If I had better tires from the start I probably would...
I know I know. I'm gonna take the cheap way out right now and go stocker just to get it back on the road. She's fine with that. She did ask how much a good clutch set that I wanted was going to cost. I told her around $600, and she didn't look too approving of it. I'll just wait until the...
I'll check out that clutch set, but it'll have to be down the road before I get something like that. I'm gonna put a stocker back in and hold out on the dragstrip until I can get a performance clutch set later.
Yeah, I babied her home. If I stepped on the gas too much the clutch would slip, so I took it real easy on the way home. Plans now are to get a new clutch disc and use this stock pressure plate David had given me a while back. I'll drop the tranny soon and see what exactly happened. My guess...
Well, the fluid currently in it is old as hell. I bought the car back in 1995, and have never changed it. :icon_redf Car has been sitting for nearly 11 years, and I finally got it up and going. That could have something to do with it. Did you add any kind of friction modifier, or did your...
Went out to the dragstrip last night. First pass of the night both wheels spun when I did a burnout. Second pass only the right wheel spun. Is it possible that I broke my diff? I don't hear any grinding or crunching noises going. Car doesn't vibrate either. If I change fluid with a...
