Spoilers and Wings: Spoiler or wing

::popcorn:: Rodel, buddy of mine is thinking of rocking a wing of that nature on his FC, at least roof-height. Granted, we have a spare engine to throw in this thing before that's done, and said engine will have more than adequate power to justify it. ;)

    Have a few questions..

Not a bad idea. No way in hell could you build one that nice for that cheap. Well, without knowing how to do EVERYTHING on your own anyway. As for the OP, it all depends. If you're willing to put 4-5k into a car that may or *may not* turn out and walk away from it, then this might not be a bad...

    beat a 1984 p type supra

...or anything more powerful than stock, you should be grateful. ;) I've seen STOCK 1UZ swaps run mid 13's with ease in the Mk2. Get bad ideas about mine every time I pass by it in the garage...

    Happy 236th Birthday Marines

Man, 236 years ago, you would have been fighting off pirates, er... the British. Right, the British. Thanks for all you've done and all your sacrifices guys. If you're not here at home and reading this, make sure you make it home safely. :)

    Any doctors around?

I can see both sides to the discussion for sure. Personally, I'd rather have the insurance and never need it than need and not have.

1jzgte is having starting proplems in the cold

Does it crank and start at all? If it will start, but then die shortly after, try holding the throttle in just a bit. If it stays running, it might be your IACV.

Rear Stock CT12A missing bolt, leaking oil?

It's kinda hard to tell looking at the pictures posted, I would have thought that there would be a bolt in that hole, possibly for a bracket? Are there any coolant pipes or brackets for the BOV that might attach to that part of the turbo? Or possibly something for the evap can?

    1jz twin 'seals'

I think my seepage is near the oil drain on one of the turbos if I remember correctly. Been a couple months since I looked at it, so just going off fuzzy memory. The red circle there appears to be the front side of the turbo, the compressor housing, correct? If so, I think it should probably...

Going to be changing the heater core, just some questions before starting the job.

Still stronger than the copper bits we're blessed with on those I suppose. Yet another good idea I'll be borrowing. ;)

    heater core replacement help

Interesting JJ, something to add to the list of things to research this winter when getting the shell ready, thanks. :)

Paper, plastic or metal drain plug gasket, what do you use?

Not a bad idea, it just needs to be something to form a good seal. Leather is soft, but not so porous that it would leak...

    Anybody here name their supra?

Named my 88 "Marie" after a good friend of mine, seemed fitting, she was quiet, beautiful, and treated me quite well. The car that is... :p Named the 89 "XIII" as it was the 13th car I've had, and figured my luck couldn't get all that much with this one haha... Don't think I named my 84, and...

    Any doctors around?

Only reason I have insurance is for real, genuine emergencies. I've seen what can become of medical billing if something horrible happens to you. Figure the money I spend in a year is better spent hypothetically than literally on medical bills because I didn't have insurance at all...

    1jz twin 'seals'

I've been running the ebay y-pipe on mine for at least 18+ months now... I think that one of my turbos might be starting to go, but I'm not horribly worried about it. I do see an occasional oil drip run down the one turbo, but they've been boosted daily anywhere from 12-17psi.

Going to be changing the heater core, just some questions before starting the job.

Ian, what did you make those sleeves from? That is ingenious! Looks like a little steel insert flared out at the end to me... What keeps them from coming out of the copper tube? This was one thing I was always paranoid about damaging due to how difficult it is to access...

    heater core replacement help

Is this something specific to the aftermarket heater cores? I've heard of the pink/red coolant causing problems when mixed with other coolants, but can't say I've come across hearing about it hurting the heater core.

zombie supra or bringing the dead back to life.

I was just throwing it out there, but if it's not even turbo, that lessens the risks I was imagining. Just seem too many melted pistons in my time on here and on other cars... Nothing wrong with treating a $500 car as one though, might as well enjoy it for what it cost ya. :)

    Subs in between seats?

I'm planning on building something similar to what the FC Rx7 and 2 seater Z31's had, flat from the hatch floor forward, with a storage bin on the passenger side, and sticking a sub right behind me where the passenger seat would have been. Nobody ever sits back there in mine anyway, so... making...

    White smoke

Be sure to check all your coolant lines, AND the clamps to secure them. I found I had a loose clamp once, was slowly leaking out coolant... had a similar problem with the Mk2, the upper rad hose was loose on the thermostat housing side of things. Was worried I had a BHG until I realized it was...
