401k, is it still a valid method of savings considering the current economy?

I was recently made aware that I was eligible to sign up for our company's 401k. I read through it a bit, and it seems that while, yes, they do match your contribution, up to an extent, they take that money and invest it in the stock market??? To me, that just seems absurd. If I'm going to do...

Someone got an Asswhooping for screwing with cars.....Possibly nsfw due to language

After seeing the story on Jalopnik, I agree. Did they need to take it that far? No. Would I have possibly had a similar reaction? Maybe, hard to say. In the end, the whole damn situation is just that: SAD. We have a similar saying around here: "you fuck one sheep..."

    Mossberg 500, anyone use one?

So they make removable stocks for these? That might be a nice compromise...

how much will a stock 1j clutch handle

Ninja edits work just fine. My stock clutch/PP setup held just fine at around the 320rwhp mark, not sure how much torque I was making though. I'd figure on upgrading, if nothing else, to a slightly stiffer pressure plate, but no real need to go with a puck style clutch unless you start pushing 400+.

Someone got an Asswhooping for screwing with cars.....Possibly nsfw due to language

Can't even view the page without logging in for me. Needless to say, I think people who vandalize and steal cars are about 2 steps above rapists and child molesters in my book. :nono: Wish car theft was punishable by the same means as horse theft... still on the books in some places as...

I <3 the sound of 45 psi of boost

If I'm not mistaken, the stock ECU on these things is much like a GM ecu, or Honda, and as such are easy to tune by nature. Personally, I wouldn't mind one, but I think people would think I was nuts for RAISING the ride height, and sticking dirt tires on it, then attempting to out-dirty every...

Holy crap man, of all the threads to pop up in... welcome back! :) As for me, I'll find something to toss up in here tonight, don't think I have any pictures of me in the photobucket... A lovely lady with a .45 on the hip? Can't complain about that... :)

Any body know anything about a 99 xj8 pos!!!

Since when do gas lines freeze? I live where it's not uncommon to see -25° and COLDER (speaking just ambient temps, cars don't care about wind chill), and I've never heard of anyone's fuel freezing up... Well, aside from diesel fuel anyway. Did she put diesel in it on accident? My money would...

    Car Lift

^ I had to do that when replacing the transmission on my former Miata a few years back. A 4x4 piece of wood was a VERY useful piece of low-tech for that job. ;)

Spoilers and Wings: Spoiler or wing

I had a guy in a Dodge diesel try to race me last night, at least I think that's what his intention was. He just sat there beside my car, holding the same speed as me for some odd reason. I think it was because of my huge ass wing...

    Rear strut/coil install tips?

Makes a good point here. I would consider using a penetrating oil such as PB Blaster. Would anyone object to greasing up some joints for a job like this? It's been so long since I've dealt with suspension, so I forget whether or not lubrication was a no-no or not...

    Car insurance for my MKIII.

Or if your speedometer cable happens to be broken... Then again, insurance fraud IS a crime (likely a VERY serious one in most places), so you gotta ask yourself it it's really worth it? ;) I'd say you're doing just fine then. I was living in Phoenix growing up, and merely LIABILITY on a 9 year...
