You will only make more power with higher octane if the motor is tuned to take advantage of it...i.e. higher boost and increased timing. Same for water/meth injection.
"Silencing knock" is a misperception. Higher octane and meth works by lowering cylinder combustion temps which, in turn...
Like IJ said, the ony way an oil pump will affect idle is cause the motor to seize...then you would have no idle.

You are correct...you should not need a SAFC for the motor to run correctly. It is useful to tune at high RPM...the Lex/550 combo runs rich at WOT.
The responses you've got so far are way off (at least concerning this problem). ;)
The minor damage to the honeycomb will not cause this...
Kenny - Cutting off the jiggle valve will allow a small flow through the radiator at all times. It does two things: 1) Allows the system to rid itself of air more quickly. 2) Insures there is no pressure build-up behind the thermostat that can hold it closed.
