Apparrently it is, loads of people think it's 10, but when ed and a few others said 'er, it's 20psi' and then proved it with an aftermarket gauge... :) Then again, ours might be different, due to our RHD leetness ;)

Er - theres nothing wrong with the stock gasket if you're STOCK. Neither is there anything wrong with the stock bolts, if you're STOCK. Going for ARP hardware on the top end is all very well if there was any intention of going for power. I realised that the 7M is a flawed design, but at the 72...

Bottom end i'm more concerned about. As i said, i'm just stock, the most i'll EVER push, is about 350bhp. I can barely use whatever i'm outputting at the moment, and toyota head bolts should be more than adequate as long as they're torqued down to 72lb/ft.

Nope - you cant hear any knocking in mine until the timing starts to advance at 2200 rpm

Using ARP bolts for the bottom end. Top end i'm just going to tick to standard bolts. The budget doesnt allow for more than the most essential expense!

That oil pump looks pretty good, although...not sure if after shipping, it'd be any cheaper than one from Mr T.

Not looking for power, i'm looking for reasonable reliability. Plus, i have a budget to work to. The max i can spend on a set of pistons is about $350 - which is why those looked so tempting. I also have to get ARP's and a set of bearings, headgasket and a few other items...

Well, the only way to be completely sure is to pull the engine, and look at the bearings...

Well, i need a rebore to the next oversize - 20 thou should be okay - how much for a set of stock ones? Get them from Mr T?

Yeah it is expensive, although living in London makes it the most expensive place in the world to live...hopefully come september, i go back to university, which means halls of residence, and in reading or cardiff that = cheap!
