I got me a new toy!

It's a 1997 20th Anniversary VW Golf Mk III with Leather Interior. Has the 2.0litre 16v engine, so 150bhp on tap, even crippled with the catalytic converter. Good Points: New Brembo Rotors and Pads New Shocks & Springs 84,000 miles on the clock since new Full Service History BMW Halo style...

You know what really grinds my gears?

I have one. It sucks. It's like stirring coal, or operating a victorian signal box. I much prefer the W58 :)

You know what really grinds my gears?

On the subject of the W58 - any way of strenghening it, like rebuilt internals?

You know what really grinds my gears?

As with anything i never buy the shinest thing on the shelf when it first comes out. Had i done that with my computer, i'd have ended up with sub par stuff. In the midrange as far as parts go, you're fairly safe - like i was with a GeForce 7600GT, but when you go high end, like i just did, it...

You know what really grinds my gears?

Okay - well, everyone who knows games consoles knows that theres always a refresh of the hardware 12 to 18 months down the line - and yes, they did it with the PS2 as well. Remember when it used to have firewire ports on? The original PS2 has a separate Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesiser...

Yeah SOHC's drive the inlet and exhaust valves off the same cam. Then again, there are only 12v on those I6's, so 2 valves per cyl isnt hard. Granted, DOHC makes more sense, Aston Martin and Lotus were using DOHC engines in the 60's, its just taken longer for the 'lower levels' as it were, to...

I dont think you ever got any of the 4-cylinder M10 engines in the E30's, and the 6-cyl M20 engines you had were detuned a fair bit for the US market. BMW engines are strong, although not perfect. I've worked on a 323i and a 320i before, but only top end stuff. Americans might call it...

    Chrysler Conquest

I always liked the E30 BMW's although i didnt like that you in the US crippled them engine wise (thanks to emissions) and added those STUPID federal 5mph bumpers which made the car look daft. If you do get one, make sure its the 2.5 litre or higher and then get a turbo kit for it :D

Heh - i fancied one as well...until i found out it was SOHC :/ Still - drop in a 4G63 from an EVo and you'll have fun :D Jeremy Clarkson bought a Starion as part of a Top Gear Challenge - cant remember the episode though...i think it was season 6...

Wow! today sucked. What do I need to do a full rebuild?

Yeah i was talking about stock pistons. For a stock build. They were $84.99 with 15% discount. They came with rings. They're probably, in all likelyhood, old Toyota stock, although they're only cast slugs, cant be that hard or expensive to make them. They look okay, 100% identical to the stock...

Wow! today sucked. What do I need to do a full rebuild?

Right to do a headgasket isnt expensive, you just need the right tools and a gasket kit. However, you might as well do a proper job on it. Replace the bearings, because even a miniscule amount of water in the oil can cause damage. Bearing set with thrust washers, gasket kit and a set of...
