Yes, you should not run the J-tube with a upgraded fuel pump. The J-Tube create a pressure in the return line incase your fuel pressure regulator fails but you will still get home. Remove it and you will see.

Whoops, I didn't see that. Some shops think that the 7M, 1JZ and 2JZ run adjustable hydraulic lifters and they don't adjust them. Not a lot of shops know what they are doing on these engines. They all can work on a Supra, 80% won't know what they are doing.

If you need a longer timing cover, just get the 2JZ-GTE lower timing cover. I just picked up a new on to use on my 1JZ. I will have to trim it down a half an inch but that will be not problem if I heat the area a little but with a heat gun and then use a razor blade.
