    1jz filling cylinders with fuel??

You can do the resistance check on the coils, but that doesn't say whether its a stong coil, it just tells you if the coil has the capacity to operate theoretically. (if there's an open/short the coil won't work) I also wouldn't worry about the spark so much, as the cylinders are still having...

This is what I'm using: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AEM-Air-Intake-Temp-Sensor-Kit-AIT-30-2010-/350340704227?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5191eee7e3 Not sure where the GM sensors come from, I was just told that they were mostly the same?

    1jz filling cylinders with fuel??

It uses both pins of the injector plug. Basically if the test light is on, that means the injector is injecting fuel, and if its off the injector shouldn't be injecting. I see three likely outcomes 1- Normal electrical condition (indicates mechanical failure with injectors) Key off...

Car over heating only on track

I recently did this type of racing with my car and found that after 2 days of flogging it around the track I has stirred up some bits from the block which plugged my radiator tubes DX Here are a few things to check that are relatively easy- Does the radiator flow fully Is the water pump...

    1jz filling cylinders with fuel??

Yep, I'll try to find a pic of the light I use here at work. Its not common, but when fuel system parts are drained of fuel and not treated with mineral oil/etc they have a tendancy to get sticky in my expeience. Fuel pumps, injectors, etc. Yes, I would disconnect the fuel pump so you don't...

    1jz filling cylinders with fuel??

Do you have a high-impedance (high resistance) test light or a noid light set? If not, go buy a test light that has a high resistance value (20-100ohms) and plug it into each injector's plug on the harness and turn the key on. The light should stay off until you crank the engine over. Then it...

    1jz filling cylinders with fuel??

The sensor ground is bolted to the intake manifold, but the injectors are grounded through the computer. 12v is fed through a resistor, then to the injectors. If you have a constant ground to the injectors there is a wiring issue with either the harness or the computer. I've seen used engines...

My car is ridiculous. Nothing making sense!!

I'd check to see if there's an air pocket in the engine, as well as changing the thermostat out for a brand new OEM one. $30 from the dealer with a new gasket. They're the first things I do when checking for an overheating problem. You can also take a look in the radiator to see if any of the...

ENGINE SEEMS TO RUN HOT! help!

It might be that the 89 has a worn-out clutch. I'd start by checking for codes in the ECU to see if its pulling timing/adding fuel/whatever. Start with the basics and leave the fan be. Hot 7M = unhappy engine. :)

ENGINE SEEMS TO RUN HOT! help!

Sounds like its working correctly! A running engine makes heat, and that heat is sent to radiator to be expelled. The fan draws air over radiator to vent the heat which keeps the engine cool. Don't worry about lost power when dealing with a clutch fan- its keeping your engine alive at the cost...

The IAT sensor and pigtail should be stocked at NAPA stores (they were when I went last time) otherwise you can go online(ebay) and get a kit. As for the bung, same situation- ebay should have them or you can buy a 3/4"od slug of Aluminum and weld it ont your intercooler piping, then tap the...

3/8npt weld-in bung and a GM IAT sensor and pigtail FTW. Super easy to install and readily available if it were to fail.

bhg job. head bolt won't break loose. please help.

I find that impact tools don't do as well in head bolt applications. I suggest a very long ratchet, or a smaller ratchet and a piece of pipe (cheater bar)

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

I broke the nut stiction loose one at a time, then re-torqued. I've already spoken to Ian about the matter, he was less than impressed at the surface finish on the block and head.

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

My best guess would be it getting hot at PC, but I can't back that up at all. Going to make it a bi-yearly thing to pop the covers off and give them a checking at least.

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Stopper will happen, just trying to figure out if I can run a 1.2 or if I have to stay with a 2.0 again. Compression ratio will go up regardless because of the shaving that will happen. Andy- I' not sure when they got loose, but 2 of the nuts were not tight, and the whole exhaust side was not...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Chris- I might just do that. The 91 head needs a valve job anyways so might as well make it a killer >:D Andy- the thought is that the head lifted. After that I don't trust the gasket to seal well enough. Also, see the 2nd picture- notice the uneven marks where the bead was supposed to seal-...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

It might be Mike, depending on how much work needs to be done to my 91 head. Probably going to have it checked out for soundness and see if its annealed, then go nuts with it- p&p, maybe some cc shaping, a really really good valve lash adjustment, and a valve job. Slight possibility of valves...
