That is exactly what I did initially, but I ended up plugging it into the top port of the housing where the coolant return from the turbo used to be. If it's mounted after the thermostat the temp readings lag some, but it worked pretty good otherwise...
I have that particular unit and works fine...there are a lot of guys running the ZT-2 as well, but I like the PLX just fine. I'm not using the narrow band input right now. But I'm thinking of switching it over this summer.
I agree with Dan's car being a beautiful example of a Supra...I already had mine at the time, but I still loved that car. And Dr. J and Shawndude are the ones who inspre me to learn more about the car.
I don't think I'm explaining myself very well. What I'm saying is some people choose to leave the filler hole in place and then dump in the fluid through the shifter hole. This way, you're not going to need to remove the fill plug, but you won't be able to tell how full it is. Make sense?
Out of the fill hole, yes. I was just thinking if someone put TOO much in through the shifter and it ends up being well above the fill hole. Sorry for the confusion.
I used to know of a couple of guys that had a 1986 MR2 with a 454 shoved in the back end. No supercharger or anything, but it didn't need it. I was too young to remember any good details...just that it had an ungodly motor in it!
As for air refueling (on heavies anyway), the engines are out on the wings and away from where the gas is pumping. The boom on the tanker and receptacle on the receiver have some locking capabilities to keep them connected. Now, we were allowed to have some "siphoning" where some fuel leaked...
I have a 28"x13"x3.5" Spearco core mounted in my Supra. We had to move the oil cooler, coolant overflow, and cut up some supports and weld in new ones for the intercooler. Not exactly a bolt-on installation! The exit comes out in the factory spot, but the hot air on is all screwed up because...
That's probably what I'm gonna end up doing, too. Sounds like you've done a good job of breaking it in! Have fun with it!
P.S. How's the Delaware life these days???
