Just replied over on SF ;)
So the original drilled/tapped hole for the Coil was too big/sloppy.
Have a look for "KeenSerts" they're a thickwall repair so you can keep the stock studs and using locking pins so they can't back out.
Bad news is usually when the Studs strip/pull threads it...
miekedmr makes a good point as most of the failures I've had in the past 6 years have been in trying to get the reliability/longevity I desire at my Hp level and to suit my driving style/car use.
Every single time I drive my car it will see a full boost pull to redline at least one (when it's...
Of course it can be made to run without but it's more a case of people deleting parts with NFI what they do and what effects if any removing them will have for no better reason than "I don't like how it looks"
You're buying a 15 year old (at best) motor and expecting it to be a good runner?
The ONLY reason JDM motors became popular was they're cheaper than a rebuilt motor for people on a budget and companies could get a higher price than the Scrap metal price.
Expect the 7M's to dry up as China...
Do some reading on "Adiabatic Tables" I used to sit for hours doing Calculations and end up with pages of data to do Turbo/IC sizing.
These days since BB turbo's and Chinese IC's it's much easier now it's a case of "1 BIG Turbo and 1 IC that fits the hole" = BIG bangs and lots of power and...
I still don't get the whole JDM 7M thing.....
It's at best a 15 year old motor guys it's NOT a low mile motor.
You just all seem so surprised when you buy one of these things fit and it takes a dump a short time later... :nono:
Larger bore diameter removes the Valve size restriction of the 7M.
You can only fit xx valves in our motors and this becomes the hard limit for power potential.
The JZ series is an evolution of the M's with all of the design compromises addressed and built as a Turbo motor not a Carb motor...
LOL just bustin ya balls ;)
Just in case anyones is wondering "Wire Edm" needs a through hole think hot wire foam cutter
"Sinker EDM" is what you use for blind holes.
You can coat the tap with grease that will help any chips/debris to stick to the tap (clean tap off between holes)
The T handle is important as it stops you loading one side of the tap and removing parent metal.
