I personally sat in a car watching a guy suck out the oil at a service station with the DIY Oil Changer vacuum thing, then go inside and buy 5Qt's pour it in and then repeat until the engine was FULL to the top. :evil2:

It's the bearing between the Input shaft and Mainshaft, the hardening on the snout of the mainshaft is quite shallow/thin and over the years wears down and exposes the soft material underneath.
Sitting idling in neutral clutch out the input and clustershaft are turning at roughly the same...
Good move, if you buy reasonable quality you have tools for life, one of mine I inherited and it's as old as I am, I bought a new one and retired this one to the Fat car for luggnut duties.
Wouldn't surprise me, the spec is there for a reason a rattle gun might have been anywhere from 90 to 250 ft/lbs you have no way of knowing.
NEVER had a damper come undone when it's been torqued to spec but have seen first hand the damage it causes.
