I agree. We always have used a huge 1" drive impact for that bolt. Makes life a lot easier and you don't have to hurt yourself getting it on and off.

That's why I only use HKS gaskets. It's not worth the couple of bucks IMHO...

I can attest to that. When Eric Varah made 633 RWHP it was on a motor that he and I has to machine that cover with hand tools. Same story, goofy machinist didn't mill it even though he was specifically told to. We got the motor back with the cover off, and right away we knew it wasn't machined...

In a word, NO. Sealing compounds don't know the difference between a leak and a vaild water passage. Using this crap will gum up your cooling system. Either replace the radiator or have someone repair it correctly.
