I can't think of an easy way other than borrow a gauge or AFPR and swap them out and see if it fixes the problem. I guess the gauge would be easier to test if you can find a way of putting pressure to it. Maybe with an air hose.

No, the gauge should read pressure anytime the car is running. If it's not reading anything, it's likely the gauge (or the regulartor) is defective.

One other thing. Did you use that goofy teflon tape on it? If so, are you sure it didn't block the hole on the bottom of the gauge? Also, be sure you aren't dealing with a defective gauge, the FPR might be fine.

Even o-ringed, the longevity of this gasket would be questionable at best with the 7M. The bores on the 7M are damned near Siamesed and if you think steel has a hard time blowing out between the cylinders, imagine soft copper. Overall just a horrible idea for these cars.

Not the best choice for a street motor. Especially one with a hybrid setup (Iron block/aluminum head). Unless he's going to O-ring it, it's not a good idea. Just my $.02 - ymmv.
