    "FLEX PLATE" is a bit of a clue ;) Was the snout machined 1:1 for the pilot? Toyota snout is only about 5mm wide at it's contact point so it can pivot/flex on the plate, cool it was a simple fix just sucks it took so long to ID...

    By Gap if you mean the tunnel is wider than the shell then Yes, If the Shell isn't a snap in fit it's wrong, old bearings if hammered can lose this snap fit. As for the Oil hole I'd carefully port match it with a dremel, I wouldn't run it like that.

    Did it a couple of times in the Mk3 with the LS but honestly it was more bother than it was worth as you had to remember to give it a good rev before shutting the valve..

    I imagine the same would apply to a JZ and +1 Qt will be no where near the crank. (7m took at least 9qt's to get close)

    The +1Qt thing is to ensure there is always some Oil in there as 7M's tend to use a bit when pushed hard, all it takes is to uncover the pickup through slosh once under power and the engine is toast, the accumulator is cheap reliable insurance :)

    I once worked for a Hydraulics company, lathe I ran had an 11 foot bed and for "fun" I'd put a 10 foot pice of 3" thick wall tube in with a follow rest and turn it into one piece of Swarf :D (was a bit of a comp to see who could make the longest single piece) So yep to me that could be Swarf!
