Because it eliminates the entire linkage setup, which sucks. It's not a pain to use either, it took me all of five minutes to figure out a way that would allow proper operation, while still being 100% safe. The side benefit of it is a more direct feel of the throttle.

I ran a N/A throttle cable to a JDM throttlebody on my car for quite some time. Way more direct throttle feeling, and no dealing with sloppy linkage. I posted pics a few years ago, I'm sure if you dig around you could find them easily. :)
Good! I only ever got like, two vids of my car. One sliding around a parkinglot at night, the other on the dyno. When I finally finish it, I'll be making as many videos as possible!
Meh, I never found it difficult. When the filter on my motor was in the stock location, I'd pull the accordian hose, and just reach down to grab it. Never had any problems with it.

Hmmm. See, this is quite difficult to figure out. However, judging by the angle of the fender in your avatar, coupled with the angle of the sun shining on the car, I'm willing to bet that a simple un-install/install of the latest java will likely solve your problems.
